I think you must be mistaken- the only thing kept in the door pocket is the spare mag case. If I ever take the piece off- I put it in the centre console.

Were you wearing your shit TOM ? Were people wandering the trails toting laptop bags ? That was a weak ass attempt to make a point...And since Erics post here I think there might be a big "oops" . Ofcourse having someone make off with your boots is just as bad as what Eric is saying , right ?

Nope, I wasn't mistaken. I even made a comment to a friend of mine who was also there asking him if he wanted a free semi-auto. Some time you get out of the car and are in a hurry and just put it where ever without thinking about it.. It happens... Don't get me wrong. I don't care if you are carrying or not as it makes no difference to me. I'm used to being around guns... Most of my friends are either law enforcement or have a con-carry-licence and most of them are told to have their side arm on them all the time where ever they go.

I can see how people that are affraid of guns would get nervous around someone not in a uniform carrying one in plain site. They aren't used to it and they get scared. So I can understand some of the complaints. I don't agree with them but, I can understand them.

Anyway, don't worry about it.. I didn't take it, only two others that I saw noticed it and they didn't take it. So no big deal..

Ya, Kyle, can't car jack someone with a stolen pair of boots.. Well, you never know but, a stolen gun would be much easier to work with if you were that type of person.. Gimm'me the keys lady or I'll hit you with my muddy Timberland.. Just doesn't have the same effect.

Eric's recollection of the incident is exactly the same observation I had heard from a former Dwebber. That coupled with the "out of context" freelanderliving thread was why I was concerned. I don't get nervous around guns. I get nervous around people with guns that are flippant about a weapon's security, especially in a family environment.

I would have to say in Steve's defense that this is a classic case of "Out of context" and being "Mistaken"..............

I don't have the kind of holster rig that lets me remove it easily and place it in the car. I carried the whole time- it takes more effort to remove the holster from the belt than it would be worth. The only time the holster is off the belt and in the door pocket is when I take long road trips etc- {pistol out of holster- in centre console, holster off belt- door pocket.}
My mag case could easily be mistaken since the mags I use have a formed plastic end on them- could easily be mistaken for the butt of a pistol, especially with the black leather case.
Anyway... waiting for the photoshop job from someone with a bazooka in a door pocket.

I'm a lurker now... ;)

I'm also a firm believer in the proven wisdom that an armed society is a polite & safe society. Society is a safer place with firearms in the hands of responsible individuals (at least from the standpoint of lawful citizens...the only standpoint I care about).

Irrespective of the points raised in the preceding paragraph, some less enlightened people just flip out (not to be confused with "flip flop") when they see a gun, so sometimes it's best to be discreet and meld the wisdom, "what people don't know won't hurt them", with the wisdom discussed above.

I'll also admit that I skipped pages 2 through 6 of this thread...

Well, for a firefighter it might be. ;)
No, I was referring to the statements that a gun shouldn't even be brought to MAR, not the issue of wearing it or leaving it in the car or whatnot. I should have been more specific.

But in any case, this thread is getting old for me. I'll probably check it out, but not gonna post anymore. I've said my piece (no pun intended), and then some.

nice grammer private school boy :D

my point was that you stated that you never put it in the door in one post and then in another you stated that under certain circumstances you did put it in the door.

I am not flaming you here...but if we poled the jury I would guess that they would call that a flip-flop :D

Well,

Now that assault weapons are being manufactured again, I'll be bringing my MAC-10, SAR,Raging Bull, 2lbs of Narcotics, and a breaker bar. I'm more afraid of some one hitting me on the head with the damn breaker bar or trying to use a winch for the first time than anything else. You either trust the folks at MAR or you don't. If you have a problem, don't go!!!
