Both are great songs, and versions of them . This is Trent Reznor's take, on Johnny's version of his song.

Social Distortion, doing Cash's version of Ring of Fire. I've always been a fan of SD, and this song is on their self titled album. which I find to the best one.

I enjoyed reading Reznor's reaction to Cash's version.

Trent Reznor said:
Two weeks went by. Then I got a CD in the post. I listened to it and it was very strange. It was this other person inhabiting my most personal song.

I'd known where I was when I wrote it. I know what I was thinking about. I know how I felt. Hearing it was like someone kissing your girlfriend. It felt invasive.

That's what separates great artists from good ones. Cash had the uncanny ability to own the music he was singing. He wasn't simply singing it, he embedded himself in the music. That's why Reznor freaked out when he first heard it. I'm not a very emotional person and most things that people get all misty over I feel nothing. But Cash's version definitely moved me.

Damn.....

I'd always liked Johnny's version of that song. I'd never seen the video. It is moving

As long as we're on a Johnny Cash roll, here's a good one:

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/99CT3wQmiFU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This song does a great job of showing great music being made as opposed to simply great musicians playing their instruments. Listen to Willie's short little solo @ .55. He's never going to be mentioned as one of the great guitar players, but that little solo has tremendous impact, nonetheless. I think too many musicians get caught up in the technical side of playing instruments and forget that they are supposed to be creating music.

I think the Every Breath You Take interpretation at 2:34 is awesome.

Artist is Tony Furtado, song is "The Stark Raven".

This is the only video I could find for it. don't mind the the background noise.

Sorry guys, hate to be a downer but I like prog rock, and worship Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

Steven Wilson's new "Drive Home" single, video by Jess Cope. The guitar solo starting around 5:00 by Guthrie Govan is pretty awesome, David Gilmour would approve. He may even be a bit jealous.

Awesome. Finally something I like.

Let's see how you feel about prog metal:D:

You'd better brush up on Wikipedia to follow the story. The album included extensive detail in the form of newspapers, and clearly you won't get them on Youtube.

It might be a bit overwhelming at first, but give it a chance. It may open a door to another world.

Cheers,
