LR Max said:Get the detroit. They are cheap and don't buy from any rover parts place (expecially GBR!!).
LR Max - who are you and why are spreading mis-information about me. Have you ever actually bought anything from me? Have you ever called me? Do you persoanlly have specific examples of instances that I have overcharged you for anything? Please list them.

Indeed. I bought my detroit from you. I tried to buy some axle shafts from you and I tried 4 times in a time span of 15 minutes to give you my credit card number, and couldn't due to an overexplanation on the construction of your product. Ok, I get it, its good, now shut up and LET ME BUY THEM!! It was at that point that I became negative toward GBR. I went up the road to the local shop who built me some axle shafts out of 4340 for a reasonable price and the longest sentence comprised of "I'll have em for you in 6 days". Never had a problem since. I gave him my old ones (one broken), he built them, they fit first time, and money was exchanged. Quick, easy, convienent. No one explaning to me about some irrelevant.
Oh, and on the detroit locker deal. I do remember you claiming that the rover style detroits are 600 bucks or some outragous price. There was a claim that they wouldn't get any cheaper than that and your NOS was gonna be the cheapest. I found another non-rover shop (as I claimed) had it for about 200 bucks cheaper than what you offer. Why would I buy it for 200 bucks more just because its a rover parts supplier? Negative. 200 bucks buys a lot of sammiches.
So, that is my beef. When I can't GIVE money to people...well...wtf mate. I don't do business with people who won't take my money (unless its free, are you gonna give me a pair of HD axle shafts for free? It would be cool, but I doubt it. I understand this) and not take my time. And the misinformation that was fed me, I don't know if the facts were misworded or recalled improperly, but I do remember what I heard. And I do remember it was wrong. Therefore, with this past experience, when someone asks me about GBR, I tell them of my experience, which was a waste of time. Also I inform the individual that the prices at GBR are inflated when other shops carry THE SAME product at a cheaper rate.
Do you understand this??

i was unaware that offering customer service was such a bad thing.
not that i'm defending Bill or anything, he can do that fine on his own, but your reasons for slandering his business are unfounded based on your reply.
please share with us your real beef, because what you posted was just silly.
I read about that on their web site some times ago. That seemed interesting. Now, I was thinking of something else in the past two weeks: Would it be possible to retrofit/adapt the rubber (??) ring that Discos have in place of their U-Joints as a cushion between the driveshaft and the diff? I'd think this would be similar (probably softer/less strength than Ashcroft's solution??).landrovered said:Ashcroft transmission in the UK has come up with a novel way of doing just that. It is called the "cush drive".

I paid $550 for a detroit and to have it installed with new 4.56 gears.
When I broke my sals 24 spline, it did NOT take out the locker.
I just blew up a front toyota diff but the rear sals and GBR axles are still fine.
D Chapman said:You can get it cheaper than 435.00. Call Rovertracks, he'll get you the hook up - half price of Great Basin.
....James Gall got one for like 250.00. Not sure where it came from, though. Of course, he paid another 300.00 to have it installed.
So I still haven't a detroit for my sals at this low-low-low price.
