You could head up to SCARR this coming April and see if there is one in the raffle. From time to time someone will bring one along to the meet. I know there is a TJM for sale here in Dallas by one of the Texas Rover club members.

Good Morning,
You make some very good points. I do just want a stock bumper since i doubt i will ever want to take the truck into any serious off road conditions. I tend to be the kind of guy that likes to bring my vehicles back to as close to stock as possible. The furthest this thing will ever get to "off roading" is probably pulling into a campsite in Colorado or Tennessee so that I can pitch a tent. Maybe a little mild beach driving, if I can find a beach that will allow such a thing.
Once again, I appreciate your help.

I would search for local LR clubs or repair shops.. They may have leads on local guys parting out trucks..
Shipping on a bumper will cost you more $$.

I'm looking forward to going to my first Houston LRC meeting in March. I joined online so I haven't met any members yet. I have a feeling it will be a great group though.

Thanks for telling me about that event. Seems like it will be a blast. Maybe I can take my boys to it and we can camp at the same time. Too bad Spring Break is in March.

Not sure if this has been addressed, but replace the thermostat so you know it's good to go. It's like $25 (give or take) but it can ruin you on the vehicle for good.

Keep me posted if you decide to go. I am packing to move this weekend down to the Woodlands and I should be closing on a house there in mid April. That should be around the same time as SCARR so this will get interesting.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a warm weather thermostat from Atlantic British last weekend and it is due to arrive here Saturday.
I noticed when I bought the truck that one of the hoses to the thermostat was off and the very tip of the plastic tube was broken off inside. I removed the plastic broken off inside and replaced the hose so I could get the truck home. The 180 degree thermostat was on back order at the time so I had to wait a couple of weeks before I could order it. It surprised me that the local LR dealer didn't even have a part number for that thermostat. They insisted that I only needed the original one, but I chose to go with the advice from the forum instead.

Sounds like fun so I am gonna try to make it. My boys would love it I am sure. This is a very busy time of year for me so it may be tough to get away, but maybe I can go for a day or two.
You'll like the Woodlands. Nice area and there is a Land Rover dealer nearby. :) I met the Service Manager, Joe Beneke, and he seems like a very genuine guy. If you need any help with the house I work for Lowes and I do the exterior projects, like windows, roofs, fences, etc. and I'd be happy to help you out. If you need something out of the scope of what we do I probably know someone to refer you to that you can trust and who will take good care of you.

Thanks for the info on LR Houston. I do about 99% of my own work so I would only need them as back up for parts if Will, Justin, or Motorcars cannot get it for me. Yes i have a hard time trusting stealerships. =-)
THe house I bought is in really good shape and it just needs some updates. I did the plumbing, tile, elec, wood floors, and fencing at my old house here in Plano so this one should be easy. Updating this new place should be fun and at least I get to teach my daughter along the way on doing some of these things.

I am not familiar with Will, but first impressions of Justin were awesome. I hope to do more business with him soon. As for Motorcars, are you speaking of the one in Houston? If so, I want to give them a try once I get the driveshaft sorted. Looks like project will be delayed a bit. I won't get a chance to install it till 3/7. I planned to take the truck to Motorcars to do the differential and transfer case fluids and check the stutter, if the driveshaft doesn't fix the problem.

First experience with Atlantic British didn't go well. Just received my order for what was suppose to be the warm weather thermostat, part # PEL500110. What I received was the Motorad generic part with no identifying number on it, so I can ensure it is the 180 degree unit. They did however send it in an OEM box. That was nice of them. Of course, a call or email asking me to accept a substitution would have been nice.

Ive always had good experience with them.. In fact I just got a shipment from them today. I ordered a pinion seal and a serp belt, The seal came in zip lock bag with the part number hand written on it.

It was probably an oversight, but I could have bought the Motorad part much cheaper than what they charged me. If I pay extra for the factory part, I should get the factory part. Especially since they had been on backorder and I waited till they were in stock.
I emailed them today so we'll see what they say. The reviews on this site for the Motorad part are what convinced me not to buy it in the first place.
I did figure out that at least the part they sent me is a 180 degree unit. It is printed on the thermostat.

Yesterday was a great day. My new driveshaft arrived Tuesday night from Lucky8 so it got installed yesterday. I also had my coolant system flushed and re-filled so that should ensure that I don't have any coolant issues. I will put the new thermostat on this coming Sunday. I've decided to use the one I received from Atlantic British, even though their explanation of why they sent a Motorad unit is lame.
After owning the Discovery for a month, I was finally able to drive my truck without fear of a major issue. I celebrated the occasion by attending my first Houston Land Rover Club meeting last night. What a great group. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better and checking out their cool trucks.

I was introduced to a great indy Land Rover shop in the Houston area by a member of the Houston Land Rover Club. The shop is in Katy and is named British Auto Solutions. The owner is named Joel. He has ten years dealer experience and a real passion for Land Rovers. He changed the fluids in both my diffs and my transfer case with Mobil 1 gear oil, installed the new thermostat and large coolant hose, two wipers, the leather boots for the e-brake and transfer case shifter, and a couple of o- rings. He provided the fluids and o- rings. All for $306. If anyone needs his phone number let me know.

The above mentioned mechanic mentioned that I may have the 4.6L engine in my truck, but the sticker is missing. How would I know if the engine has been changed to the 4.6?

Update on Motorad thermostat. Truck maintains between 188 and 194 almost all the time. Occasionally reaches 197 for a couple of seconds at idle.
