Known on the street as Obama Phones? I think not.

I used to get pissed at the un-constitutional, unlawful programs that all these politicians put into place.

I still do, but I have become more alarmed about the scatter effect when the shit hits the fan. Because when the taxpayer-funded tit stops producing funds, and it will, there are going to be a whole lot of Obama phone folks that are going to get pissed that they won't recieve the federal government checks preventing them from going to Walmart to get their Visios.

I am glad my family resides in a rural place. We are preparing for, perhaps, unpleasantness.

Our Anti-federalist Founding Fathers are certainly spinning cartwheels in their graves.

lol

I've got nothing against Visios.
My problem is with the corrupted relationship we have with this federal government that enables people to buy non-essential items with money that came from taxpayers, or was borrowed from a foreign nation, or was printed with reckless abandon.
This kind of financial irresponsibility is not sustainable.
I'll wager you bought your Visio with your own earned money.

Yup.

I'm not sure if the Fed/Anti-Fed argument back then took into account the idea of handouts and entitlements. I think they were more worried about the overall idea of Government being in charge of everything vs. Constitutional protection against the government and state's rights. The problem is, getting an entitlement means the government is in charge of whatever you get. Everything from Obama Phones to the loan on your house could be called in by the Government at any time.

As far as what happens when it hits the fan... we may find out sooner than later. Fiscal Cliff = Mayan Apocalypse... not like the Planet-X type of thing, just the overall idea that this American Age of world history is possibly coming to an end. The stuff we see going on in Greece.... Oh, wait:

It's already going on here. Just not on a large scale, and it isn't being reported in the same way. But it is exactly the same thing.

Actually, the Obama re-election campaign had linked to that site early on -- that's how I found it last spring -- I actually clicked on the link from Obama's web site myself. I might have even posted that link here on DWeb, but I can't remember for sure.

Obama's WH has long touted the expansion of welfare, and they even give monetary bonuses to government workers who work extra hard to get people on the various hand-out programs. The State of Oregon received a payment from the Feds for being one of the top producers of newly registered Welfare program recipients. They even held an awards ceremony for it.

However, you are correct, this is a "scam" in that you don't have to pay a middleman to fill out the paperwork for you -- and they never really tell you that, do they?

The official re-election website linked to that specific site? I call BS and 50 bucks says your wrong. There are plenty of reasons not to like ole Barry but being bad at politics isn't one. Find me a screen shot or an article somewhere legit and I will pay up and shut up.

Obama can't take credit for the 'obama phone' because he didn't start the program. He can take credit for the F&F program if you want to discuss other failed Obama policies.

Yes, it was started by someone else. You may be correct on it being Reagan. It was a land-line hook up program at first. The difference is that it transitioned to cell phones (read 'sexy' and 'desirable'), was named Obama Phone (on purpose), used by the campaign (in one way or another), and the program was greatly expanded in the year or two before the election.
