Besides the Mythbusters, don't know anyone that buys them. Get a camera and a 12v battery and make a few youtube videos!

No one buys them that I have ever heard. As a salvage business we are required to remove them from salvaged cars and either store them in accordance with DEQ requirements or detonate them within 30 days of receiving them.

We have about ten on the shelf and blow the rest up. Lunch time fun.

You wouldn't believe what the seat plants had to do to store the virgin ones.

Chain link fence rooms with drywalled blast walls.

NEVER even heard of one detonating unintentionally, much less mass detonations. The guys in the plants would toss them around to each other.

My old g/f's dad worked for TRW at their airbag factory in Chandler. You'd be surprised the number of times something blew up in that plant. Crazy, I tell you.

Always amazed how quickly they blow the split mili second you hit with 12 volts.

You do realize that the whole concept of air bags would be pointless if this wasn't the case.

i had one spontaneously erupt on me while driving my VW Jetta back in like '99 or so. Damn thing was a disaster.

Back in 2000 or so while do the adopt-a-highway thing in Illinois, a Ford Ranger pulled over with his horn honking continuously and the cab full of smoke. We thought the cab was on fire and ran to his help. The guy was dazed and didn't know what had happened. He had the white powder all over him and his classes were crooked on his face; looked like something from a comedy. The airbag just went off while he was driving down the road. I didn't see any damage to the front of the truck at all. We just disconnected the battery while he called a tow truck. Looking back he was luck to get stopped without hitting anything.
