And why do they do that even though they, of all people, dont have to?

Ego masturbation for them and their snooty peers.

Most of the people I know in that category don't put too much effort into how they dress unless they're in a situation where it's traditionally expected. Even then it's usually no more than a sport coat.

Aside from that, I deal with people worth hundreds of millions of dollars walking around wearing whatever the fuck they find comfortable. Nobody's going to tell them what to wear. The only giveaway is usually a fancy watch.

Cheers,

Kennith

That just goes to show what the wealthy have always known about the new rich: money can't buy class.

So they don't care about how they look, except for the $50,000 watch? That's just because they've been conditioned that dressing like a slob is acceptable, but they still need to be able to show they have money.

I pity people that confused.

I guess I dont understand why wearing a clean pair of shorts and shirt, that dont veer to the insane ends of tight or baggy, in public = "dressing like a slob"

Got that backwards, man. These guys grew up average to dirt poor.

They've got the clothes when they need them, but if they don't, they don't wear them. Your average multi-millionaire doesn't wear Armani.

The watches are sort of a present people buy themselves when they've succeeded; but they never spend more than ten grand on them. They're usually pretty low-key models compared to some of the crap out there. No diamond bedazzlement or anything, but some are made of gold. Just a smaller Rolex, or maybe a Seamaster.

Often, you won't find them out buying expensive new cars, either.

Cheers,

Kennith

We have an unanswered question here. That is if you're done talking about how you handle meat the best-est and all?

Shit, my family is from all over Florida - Pensacola, Live Oak, etc all the way back to the early 1800s near as I can tell. Grandpa enlisted in the Navy at the age of 45 from Live Oak and fought in the Pacific and after the war moved to Jacksonville and worked as an electrician on railroads. I spent the first 11 years shuffled between Live Oak and Jacksonville and then moved to far north Georgia.

I have some land grants for land once owned around Tallahassee, signed by Grover Cleveland and Teddy Roosevelt. 1895 and 1903

The Perry letter is my great grandfather on my grandmother's side - he worked as a Superintendent and Road Master on most of the Florida/South Georgia timber line railroads.

Did grandpa wear a seersucker when he worked on the railroad?

Well that would be dumb, wouldn't it?

Seersucker was for Sunday-go-to-Meeting.

I like how people are all "I wear whatever I want because I don't care what people think, but I wouldn't wear seersucker because I care what people think."

All over Florida... anyone want a Shuttle Challenger joke thrown into the "shooting" thread?

Pensacola, THE Redneck Riviera, and Live Oak, where the whiskey-rock-a-rollers and nouveau hippies go to co-mingle at the Mushroom Stage.

Gotcha... say no more.

You got to remember this was 30-40 years ago and back to the 1900s.
