I've been experimenting with paint for Radius arms on the truck I'm building. I don't like the cheap ass rattle can paints I've tried so far. As I remember them they looked dark black, but has a texture to them. I have painted them a satin finish and it just doesn't look right. I'm thinking about changing out my blast media for glass beads hoping that it peens the surface to make it textured then painting it black. Zack if you have access to a stock replacement can you take a close picture of the surface of one for me. For that I could find some cool Newfy something you could add to your trinkets and trash.
I have everything here to start painting this stuff. It's probably going to be humid and raining so I'm going to figure out how to use the gun. What should I spray to practice? What's cheap that will act like this 2K stuff?

I'd try some alkyd (oil) base enamel from your local hardware / farm store. Shouldn't have to thin it much with a relatively large 1.4 tip.

Ok I'm going to head out to get that alkyd base enamel. My tool fairy said to get good Lacquer thinner. I just figured Lacquer thinner was all the same. I figure I'll go to Napa and get some automotive quality stuff.

Many of the solvents found in box stores are recycled and contain impurities that could contaminate a paint job. If I’m thinning a paint I use good stuff. If I’m cleaning a gun I use cheap stuff.
