If I could live anywhere it would be...

up until this years hurricane season I would say some small private island in the Caribean but now I am going to have to say Hawaii.

San Diego - minus half the population

...absolutely perfect weather all year long. Plus you have mountains and sea shore within hours of each other.

Salt Lake City Utah;

Snow (perfect deep powder and never ice in your ski run), Moab 3 hours away, mountains, more outdoor sports than you can shake a stick at, hot morman women, since there is expensive beer and 3.2 beer you really learn to appreciate scotch and gin.

New Orleans, Louisina. And I do. Boring answer, I know.

But we live in a geographic region that the experts say will be underwater eventually, and it lends itself to "f*** it, let's have fun now" mindset.

And the fishing is ridiculous...

Up until hurricane Charley, where I live in SW Florida was like living on a tropical island in the Carribean. Not so much now in some places.

I think this would be a great place to live if you could get rid of all the seasonal folks.

I can vouch for what Greg just said (though I might be considered "seasonal folk" to him :) ).

That place is absolutely beautiful and underrated. Just a metter of time before the Northeastern money completely chages it, though.

You mind sharing exactly where you're at, Greg?

P.S. I've seen pictures of what Charley did to some friend's houses in Pensacola. I never have evacuated before for any hurricane, but after seeing that, I'm gone next time.

Matt, I think it was probably Ivan that hit Pensacola.

We stayed for Charley as it was not supposed to hit us. However, I evacuated the state for Frances, Jeanne and Ivan. Sucked, but was the smart thing to do.

I'm down in the Fort Myers / Naples area. Some of the most beautiful spots down here are on Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva, Cabbage Key, Usepa, etc. All of which are islands, but the eye of huricane Charley passed right over a good portion of Captiva, as well as it literally split North Captiva into two separate islands.

Our place is about 30 miles south of where the eye hit land fall. It was scary enough, but we were lucky. If it had come inland about 10 miles south given the angle it travelled, we would have been creamed at my place.

My biggest problem with the seasonal population is the traffic. My commute goes from 20 minutes each way to about 45 minutes in the morning and about 2.5 hours in the evening during season. Plus, you can all but forget about eating out without a multi hour wait unless you leave early and fight the early bird special crowd.

However, it is definately nice to be able to go boating in shorts and a tee-shirt in December and January.

If money was no object I would have a house on Lake Tahoe. Snowboarding in the Winter, Wakeboarding in the summer.

There's no place like Colorado. Just a days drive to almost every place worth going to.
ie, Yellowstone, Glacier, Moab, Park City, Grand Teton's, Grand Canyon, just to name
a few. The list could go on and on. I would move in a heartbeat if I could!

Salt Lake is closer to all of those things, plus a bigger advantage .....

.....no Coloradians. :p :D

Here's what I remember most about Colorado:
Heading West out of Denver on I-70, right at the sign that displays the wind advisories, my snowboard decided to take a flight off of the rental car. It was toast!
Loved Colorado otherwise. Beautiful country.
