And a few fun ones of dolphins, manta rays, etc. :D As you can see, still plenty of critters around.

Enjoy.

That really depends on the starting point eh? But since you picked a fight... ;-)

I have lived in SLC and in CO for years-- both. Ain't no way you are going to find me living in UT to deal with the politics and battles that many races, religions and others have. Its crap.

The UT country though is most beatiful.

I pick Grand Junction 2 hours from Ouray and 2 hours from Moab.

and... no Utards. ;-)

Peter, I haven't seen the film or read the book. My friend is British and has an Italian boyfriend who was feeling ready to move back home. She loves Italy, is fluent in Italian, so they started looking for a new home. They both have portable skills so they can make it work. I admire people who are willing to entertain such large changes in their lives. It's so easy to fall into a pattern that seems inescapable.

This so neat KJ. Amor est vitae essentia - Love is the essence of life.

I guess for me it would be either Socorro/Ruidoso, New Mexico or Pagosa Springs, CO. I have a colleague in New Mexico and her and I have toyed with the firm idea for about two years now hopefully it will come to fruition! Regretfully so, for now it looks like Dallas or maybe Houston (HLRC?? :) ).

Pagosa Springs absolutely rocks. I love it down there. Spent some time just North of there near Williams resevoir. Back in the Weminuche. If I don't have a place down there in the next few years, I'm gonna have a mid-life crisis.

For all you snow aholics, I've been to Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Utah measures it's snowfall in feet, "Dude, it snowed three feet last night" Colorado in inches, and NM in millimeters.
Mel, if you plan on doing any snow play in NM over X-mas, take your junk skiis cause there's not enough snow till late Jan or Feb. I've been to Ruidoso a dozen times cause when you live in TX and you're hard up for the freeze it's all you got.

Northern Scotland. Or most places in the Colorado Rockies. I'm just waiting for companies to get more openminded about telecommuting. The technology's already here - but not often the atmosphere in which to use it.

A view from our clubs offroading area...

Hey Quentin

Looking at your picture from the offroading area and this reminded me of a couple of pictures. The first picture is actually outside of Sandnes, if you turn 90 degrees to the left you are looking at Stanvanger on the horizon. The second is on top of the Prekestolen or "the pulpit".

Beautiful Norway pic! I still, being hillbilly & all, prefer Missouri. "The last undiscovered frontier". There are still places here that man has never seen, and probably never will. Hot & humid in the summer, bitter & frigid in the winter. Sometimes it snows, but sometimes the winter days are mild enough to mountian bike in shorts. The people, for the most part are good, honest, God fearing folk who will be glad to help you if you need it. (away from the cities, that is) And thanks to nearly four terms of democratic Governers/Governesses, many of our main roads are more challanging than the off-road areas! Thank You, LRW.

Last time I was in Norway I merely spent the week visiting friends.

Next time I want to go to the Lofoten Islands. IN THE SUMMER!.

If I could live anywhere? I would have to say Springdale Utah, right at the entrance to Zion NP. Great 4x4 trails, rock climbing, kayaking, skiing is not to far, canyoneering is AWSOME, beutiful weather most of the year and great mountain biking.

My second choice would be Lone Pine or Bishop California. I love the eastern Sierra's and the Inyo range.

Ahhhh, Oslo!

Gotta agree with the Norwegians this time. Oslo in the summertime rocks - 23 hours of daylight! People are so friendly and open, cities are clean and full of art, and those quaint little houses with grass and wildflowers growing on their roofs was just too beautiful. And for somewhere so damn cold I've never seen so many people that love ice cream!!! But man, we gotta talk about food, that so called "hamburger" I had from some Mexican restaurant downtown was so NOT cow...no more slipping reindeer in the meat, K? ;)

One of three places: SLC, Loch Rannoch Scotland, or Itaparica Island off the coast of Brazil.

Here's some of Loch Rannoch (Near Pitlochry)...

I remember the cost of living was brutal too, but when I was there I was a student. I remember picking up the tab for a nice place and 4 other friends and having to have my parents wire me more money for the rest of the week (yeah, they were pleased about that, NOT!).

Don't know what it is like now.

Couldn't agree more, although Vail isn't so bad.

The cost of living is rediculous! And Norway has yet to get a clue about "fast" food. I guess that keeps them pretty thin though. Their burgers, pizza and anything mexican leaves a lot to be desired. I still can't get over the fact that they don't (typically speaking, and this was 7 years ago) use pizza sauce. They bake the pizza with no sauce and then put Ketchup on top. Oh and I never got used to seeing corn as a pizza topping. Pizza Hut was pretty new so you could always find some pretty good pizza. McDonalds was the only burger that I ate there and it was....well McDonalds.
