Marc,
Based on your comments I am deducing that you work for US Scare. Being a Charlotte NC resident we are feeling the cuts here like you would not believe. If it makes you feel any better cuts in your industry are affecting everyone in this town. . . including the bankers, so your not the only one. I feel your pain.

I figure that there is enough skill and assortment of talents here to start a kick A$$ company. Now we just need a good idea...

Starting a company with the people on dweb is a bad idea. First no one would agree on anything. Second no would do any work, because its obvious everyone here spends all day misusing their company computers and internet access. And Third the company would fail in a ball of flames as soon as some one says, "why don't we just buy craftsman, there cheaper".

Just put John Lee in charge of Human Resource. ;)

After Marc's original post my guess is Marc you work for Delta not US Scare as Delta has a hub in SLC, UT and they just announced the 10% paycut here in Atlanta. Was big news today in this area as well.

Sorry to hear about it. I myself suffered through a layoff at a Big 5 accounting firm after the firm acquired all of Andersen's people here in the Atlanta office due to the fall of Anderson due to the fall of Enron. It sucks. I finally found a place I fit in and am happy at but the secure feeling is gone. No matter how many times I am told I am doing a good job and that they are happy with me my security level is low. It keeps me on my toes.

It's good to read the other posts to know I am not alone int he ups and downs of the last few years.

Nobody outside...probably just sit at our desks, inches from one another, fighting ON D-Web, about Craftsman vs S.O., and complaining to Kyle how slow this shit is.

Kyle would then type some sharp retort about how all our asses are gonna get yanked...

"You just a pawn boy!!! Lucky I dont flick yo piece off the board!!!" :D

Lets not give up so easy, there has to be something that our "dynamic" personalities could do well together. Perhaps we should start a call center for LR owner to call into to answer questions. It would just be great to hear eveyone insult people as they call up wondering how to get the O4 headlights on their D1, Or how to install "street locks" with a 5" lift and "where can I buy XZLs". John will be there reaming people for rounded bolts because of their craftsman wrench. Kyle will be there to answer RAVE questions. Oh man the potential is there!

BTW-Marc next time I fly in to SLC I'll do my best to take Delta, help a brother out! I actually hope to drive so I can take my disco out with you and Cbass next time. But I'll tell everyone I know to take Delta.

Take control

Marc, The company I work for has been in decline for 2 years. Several lay-offs, little or no pay increases. Fortunately I am at little risk of losing my job. Unfortunately, because I am valued, I'll be retained to the bitter end. Those being layed-off have gotten 6mo full severence. By the time a lay-off makes it's way to me, there will probably be nothing left in the way of severence. Rather than wait for that to happen, I'm aggressively pursuing another job opportunity. Easier and less stressfull to find a job while you're still employed. I suggest you take your pay-cut as a wake-up call and get busy looking out for yourself. Don't let this get you down. It's a great opportunity. Best of luck to you in your search.
