Radius Arm Bolts

Hello all,
So here is my problem. I am renewing the bushings in the front end of my 99 D1. I got the nuts off no problem, but for the life of me the bolts will not come out. They spin, they just wont pull out. I have destroyed the bolt from bashing on it, trying to get it out. I think what is holding it from budging even a millimeter is the Blue Poly Bushings. I wish I new about those before I bought them. But you would think that it would come out but it aint moving. So, for someone with just hand tools, no power tools at all, what would you do next? I've tried prying on the end of the bolt while spinning it, nothing is working. Maybe a heavier hammer???:banghead:

Let me know...

Thanks,
Jeremy

IF you do get them out....

slather them with anti-sieze, and you'll never have this problem again.

I ran into the seized bolts when installing a A-arm extension. Use plenty of blaster, and allow it to soak for a few days. Impact wrench and hammer. So much fun!!

Not meaning to hijack your thread...but I am in the middle of the radius arm install on my D2 and I'm stuck sitting in the garage looking for answers

I got the radius arms bolts off, no problem its free to move on out. I just cant get the damn'd tie rod off the knuckle .Am I doing something wrong here? Wheels are off, front sways off and axle is freely hanging. I have tried jacking up on the tie rod end, beating the shit out of it and everything...Also, I can't get the freaking nuts loose on the cross member to put the spacers on. I sprayed them with PB blaster and let them sit for an hour and resprayed, and nothing. I tried using a 10mm wrench on them and its just starting to strip the bolt heads on the cross member. I was going to post pictures but it won't let me so...

I am desperate as I HAVE to get this stuff on so I can go back to AU tomorrow for classes and work...

Sometimes hitting the knuckle with the hammer will knock it loose or use a pickle fork.
When I upgraded my tie rod it fell right out.

Also when you get the cross member brace off, leave it off. You'll never notice a difference.

Thanks guys. I have the tire off, track rod off to get space and a 3# sledge and the fawker don't want to budge. I can spin the bolt easy. And yes, the hardware is being replaced. That one bolt is destroyed from beating on it. I am going to go get a hack saw today and see if that will do it.

you must face west 5 times a day and pray to the rover gods for more strenght..

The Rover Gods are actually to the East not the West. So when you face the West you're showing them your rear which might explain your Rover issues....
