I'd sold the Vega and we were moving it really early on a Sunday morning. Somehow, we were able to get it back on the trailer (it was in the middle of the South side of town on US27 no less) before even a single car came by. I was so glad there were four of us and it didn't weigh much.

Aw Vegas. Remember the Cosworth Twin Cams? I'd love to have one of those nowadays.

Just got my order from American Ratchet Specialties today and the straps were yellow. The ones shown on the website are black and that's what I had wanted. I called the guy and he told me that I should have specified black but their site doesn't give you the option so I'm not sure how I could have. He's making me pay return shipping both ways to get the black straps. I'm a little disappointed.

Piss on them before you send them back....they're already yellow.

After you get the black straps I would call the BBB or his local chamber of commerce and complain about how you were ripped off on shipping. Just because you can.

I'm pretty sure that this guy is just a reseller for these guys:

http://www.tie-downs-ratchet-straps.com/1inchlhdutystraps.html

The box I got was shipped by this place, The Ratchet Depot. The A.R.S guy told me that my exchange will probably take about three weeks because he has to receive them from me (to verify that I didn't rip him off for some $10 ratchets) and then he has to send them back to the factory and they will send me some new straps. Eventually.

Weak.

By the time this is over, I will be five weeks and $40 extra into this. I should have just bought some of the stainless Mac's straps.

Well, the replacement black straps came in yesterday. The hooks are really banged up and I'm pretty sure that they were used already. At least he shipped them out quickly.

In my quest for the perfect strap, I decided to ditch the galvanized ratchet portion and replace them with some sweet stainless ratchets:

So there you have it, stainless ratchets and 1" black webbing for about $14/each + shipping.

I looked this thread up because I needed to order some more of these. I bought a set of axle straps in 09 so almost 3 years later I have broke two of them. That's rather shocking durability as they have hauled at least 200 cars, many of these cars are hit hard so they might be up against jagged edges and they are just thrown in the back of the truck when not in use. 3 years of me using straps is probably harder than a life time for many of you. These things are awesome and I hope they are still making them in 3 more years.
