RRC Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier

Check out the LGI bumper, pretty good looking and putting a tire-carrier on it would be a simple add-on. http://www.lgindustries.net/
Yeah, I did a search for rear bumpers, which I probably should have done first, but maybe this way Larry will post a completed pic of his rear bumper. I am pretty set on a rear tire carrier. I had poor visibility with the Disco so that I am used too. I also like the idea of a spot for backup lights in the bumper. Hope to see some pics!

I've been searching for the exact same thing for my RRC. I called Steve at Rovertym about building one, but he didn't seem to enthusiastic about it, but maybe if there were TWO inquiries, or more, he would be more inclined to do a run of them. Call him, see where you get.Cambo said:

I am considering building a spare tire holder that fits in the receiver hitch but rides above the bumper, since I have two recovery points on my rear bumper. it would be easy to just take the pin out and drop on the ground if you needed access to the lower tailgate.

I talked to him about this when he built mine. His biggest concern then was making things strong enough to withstand all the leverage on the frame. Ideally these need a third point of contact for long term strength. Maybe LWG has solved that problem.
I've seen pics of your bumper before, very nice, in fact I have that same pic saved on my home computer because I want the same thing when I get around to getting the rear bumper for mine, tire carrier or not. I'm pretty much committed to RTE, their stuff is so great.cptyarderho said:

Sorry I've been away from the boards a bit lately, trying to get everything ready before the National Rally.
I have what looks to be the final prototype sitting in my garage. It doesn't look all that different from the bumper pictured. I will get some pics posted of it tonight. Building the tire carrier this weekend, was waiting until I had the bumper 100% finalized first.
I'll post a bunch of pics here tonight.
