I certainly think that the toy swap is pretty bomber, but do you need it for the Rubicon?

I don't.

A truetrac with stocker shafts and CV's in the front, a detroit with HD shafts in the rear, 4.11s and 32" tires means that with a little skillz behind the wheel I'm going everywhere I need to go and not breaking anything.

I'm not saying I'll NEVER break anything, but I think the risk is low and so far so good.

I don't know, Jack. I busted several CV's, both stock and HD's, with a TT and 33's. And that was in what I call pretty lame trail conditions. Funny thing is, thay never broke on anything hard or fun. It was always in the middle of the trail on some sucks ass basketball size rocks. Weird.

Was that GBR shaft a product of Ashcoft?

Either that or the BFG's don't get ant traction...

Speaking of...I just found a set of 255/85/16 BFG MT on Jeep wheels for 300.00. He claims over half thread. Hopefully a set of decent used tires will last me until the new BFG comes out..... You know anything about the new MT's? How do you like the current BFG's on the truck?

Sounds like a hell of a trip, with a ton of carnage to boot.

Jack, out of curiosity, what winch lines broke, and what caused them to fail?

Looking at the pics again:drool: Pictures never do a trail justice as you know but the shots of David on that right leaning slab with the front tire in the air:eek: It also looked like there was some winching on stuff that wasn't too bad, was this due to breakage on the vehicles or a case of it was harder than it looked?

I keep going back and looking at the shots over and over again:bigok:

Great pictures, but I wish EE would put even basic captions under them, some of then just had me scratching my head. How exactly did the TJM bumber on the D2 get so mangles in the first place?

Pretty sweet run.. Looks like Koby has the next couple of weekends booked for truck repairs..

Looked like a fun time. I'm hoping to get out there in the next 2 or 3 years myself if it's still open..

I know nothing of the new MTs other then when I was out with Bill Burke and he was running them. I believe they will be just like the ones he ran as they seemed to be more of a production item than a one-off prototype.

My MTs in the skinny size work for me.
I've got some second-hand XZLs waiting to go on the 110 and I'm all pumped because they're the hotness, but we'll have to see if they prove to be superior in performance. The XZLs certainly seem tough.

I like MTs for an all arounder. Pretty much do OK on everything and they hold up well which I think is just as important. I run pretty high PSI b/c my truck is heavy and I don't want to lose too much diff clearance. Just like all other trails I ran the Rubicon at 25psi front and 30 psi rear and was never wanting for traction.

BFG MTs are like the AK-47 of tires. There are more refined and more elusive options, but we all know the shit works.

25 - 30PSI?? Damn, thats what I run on the highway. Not wonder you don't break shit. You just do burn outs.

I was not inpressed with the XZL's, at all! Mud Ride and Trevor Combs both had them.
