joking aside,

get real here, we come up with the lamest justifications for buying and bolting stuff on our trucks.

REALLY... what's the reason for "most" of the stuff? To look cool.

spoken just like my wife. :p

I would think it would hinder the performance as much as it helps due to the fact it needs to pull the air through a tube that has sharp curves and corners too.

Not at all. Particularly when the cowell is oriented in the direction of travel, there is a forced-air effect that adds an incredible amount of "pep" when you accelerate at speed.

Sorry, but anyone who disagrees just hasn't driven a Discovery with a snorkel.

Ok so the jest of it is that the snorkel is mainly for picking up the chicks not for any kind of performance. So the question should now be does a snorkel increase the LPH (Ladies per hour) :D

20 deg is a huge difference. I would kill for a 20 deg drop in intake temp in my fd. That is a big deal. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Just the fact that you have a somewhat forced air induction system would make a difference. I know this is not related, but watch the video below. Yes, these guys are retarded for doing this, but if you are pushing air into the system (via snokel or LEAF BLOWER) it doesn't matter. Forced air is forced air, period.

You should also laugh at this, ahaha I did. Leaf blower + nawwwz=powa haha

I never thought of using a leaf blower. My wife has a leaf blower but it is gas powered and noisy. Would be impractical because I would have to always carry 2 stroke gas with me. I could get her a new electric leaf blower for our anniversary as well as an inverter. I'll go to Lowes today and check out leaf blowers.

haha The point of the video was jsut to show the effects of a little forced air, but if you would like to try the leaf blower thing be my guest. Just make sure you do a write up after. ahahahahaaa

The cooler air is what's helping with the HP (pep).

By turning the cowel towards travel you would be creating a "ram-air" system- which do nothing for performance until you reach speeds close to 70+ mph. Slower than that and you don't build sufficient pressure to "force" more air into your intake.

If you don't believe this, then I would like to sell you one of these...

Well, aside from looking cool, it does help keep some of the dust out of the airbox/filter.

I have had two people ask me why I would put my muffler in front of my window like that.. Wasn't I worried about getting sick from the exhaust fumes....

I choose to ignore them rather then correct them..

I use mine mostly to keep dust out of the engine. Ram air or cold air is insignificant, and the "adaptive" engine electronics soon negates any slight advantage.

When people ask, I sometimes tell them that it is the mast for my GPS antenna.
