I'm making my own and modeling it somewhat after the mantec. I've got the tube bent, and the scoop made. Have the flex hose, just need the balls to cut the fender.

So far someone has claimed each of the available snorkel kits as "hideous, ugly" etc. It's kinda funny!

Safari also makes a "can" that can be put in place of the scoop for very dusty conditions. Have never seen up close though so I have no idea what pre-cleaning properties it might have.

the classic mantec

Where did you find a mantec snorkel for $325.00? I have been lookin and have not found anything under $375.00. Just my 2 cents worth but I really like the classic styling of the mantec. It looks more like original equipment on a 95 disco I.

When you support the smaller shops and get to know the people, they tend to help you out on the "bigger ticket" idems ;)

When you live on an island in the middle of the marsh it is pretty hard to find a small dealer. Hell I am happy if I can even find a large dealer willing to ship something here. I understand what you are saying though. If I have to ask how much it is, I can't afford it anyway.

I own a Safari Snorkel; I didn?t buy it because of the way it looks!! I bought it because of the performance and because of my needs. I spend most of the time traveling around beaches so there?s more salinity and if I had the mantec snorkel chances are that it would be seriously rusted by know!!

Off-road, mudding or whatever you want to call it, it?s not about looks it?s about performance. If you are concern about looks then go buy yourself a Ferrari. :D

ARB sucks and why would you waste time and money on somthing that sucks, get the mantech I dislike alot about the ARB mainly the way it hangs off the side of the truck. If any thing looks like an after thought the ARB does. Just make sure you raise the axel and transmission breathers up into the snorkle before you even think about driving in water. Any way you look at it the mantech is better period.

This conculdes my current statement

Safari's units are just like the Dolnaldson units you can buy commercially....

Problem is that the Donaldsons that will fit on a Safari Unit, will not flow enough CFM to keep your engine happy. I had one on my last rig and it was noticeably restrictive. If you could get one that would flow over 500 CFM you'd be set. I *assume* the Safari units are sized appropriately to flow enough air. These don't spin themselves, but they do spin the air and work very well (flow aside) I ran mine in heavy snow and it would just pack the snow around the side...you'd scoop it out after the run and it would be very dense.

Was waiting for Koby's response to that one.

Left that one dangling for him.
