I mean, if you still have the truck, I don't see why the title of this thread is "someone stole my disco". Sounds like you're just $500 richer.
The truck was taken without my consent, it was in fact stolen, the agreement that we got to, kept him out of jail, and saved him all the legal fees associated with the charges.

So then why did you only ask $2,000? Why not $10,000?

Still don't understand why you'd agree to something which would let a guy off the hook for stealing your truck. If someone stole the TV out of your house but came back later with the TV saying they'd give you $500 you'd be cool with it?

This. First I'd be pissed that some dude was trying to steal my truck. Second, I wouldn't want to engage in a negotiation with some weird ass thief. Lastly, I'd ask a hell of a lot more than you did.

i had been contemplating selling it for a long time, on and off, this forced my hand, and left me with what i would have wanted for the truck

Without the hassle of Craig's List! Good job Marco!

If only this would work for furniture. Whenever I put some old couches in the street they get rained on for a few days before someone in a Ford Ranger eventually picks them up

I just received a text and email from Matt/Wolfgang Overland. 505 area code. Pics were attached.

He sent pics of my old 95 that you purchased from me stating he just got it from you and wanted to know the history prior to your ownership. Since its been 11 years or so I can not tell him much .

Is this the guy who attempted to steal your Discovery?
If so he's a pretty good one... knowing prior owners cell numbers etc.
Odd that he knows so much and that he would reach out.

Hopefully he will come load up a few thousand dollars of parts prior to paying and I will attempt your approach to secure payment.

Yes, same guy, when we finalized the transaction, we spoke for a bit, I told him all the good parts that the truck had in case he was going to part it, I also told him about roverguy.com for parts, and that I bought it from you.

For what is worth, I attempted to change the title of the thread, the guy may have not been a car thief, best case scenario he wanted to take advantage of a seemingly abandoned truck. He still took it without the owners permission.
