Funny, one of the motorcycle cops I was dealing with (for paperless tickets) pretty much said if he has to get off his motorcycle, you're getting a ticket.

I was told by a Virginia State Police Officer once to ALWAYS contest a ticket in court. I have done just that twice and one was expunged and the other time the ticketing officer could not be present in court so case was dismissed. If you do contest wait a week or two and then file for a date extension - there is a chance that in doing so the arresting officer will not have that date available, (a slight chance but it's a chance).

This thread is regarding a speeding ticket not indecent exposure.

This is one of those "well my brothers a cop; I heard that; if it's a Sunday and the officer is wearing parka" kinda thread.

I got pulled over by a VA State Trooper (on a motorcycle) a few weeks ago. He was very professional and didn't give me a speeding ticket for doing 41 in a 25. I was honest and I am sure he had a man-crush on me and my truck, but that's beside the point.

Over the years that I've lived in a half dozen states, I have concluded that generally State Troopers are a far more professional group then local PDs, Sheriffs, etc. I don't think I've seen so many overweight Sheriffs, than here in VA. At least every State Trooper I've seen (regardless of state) looks capable of catching me on foot and putting a beat down on me if necessary.

I had this happen in CO... I had a FL license. My insurance friend told me that it would only show up on insurance if it occurred in a state that is adjacent to the one in which you're registered.

I agree there are some fat ass local cops, but if only you knew some of the idiots the state hires. There are idiots everywhere. On a seperate note I bet I could catch you and I DO bring an ass whipping with me.

Don't know about east coast but not the case here.

You'l find most state troopers are more schooled in traffic laws and PDs and SOs deal more with crimminal cases like robbery, theft, Burg, murder etc.

I have great respect for our troopers and many are very close friends of mine. They just laid to rest one of their bomb techs who was killed by an IED at a bank south of Portland. He and a Woodburn PD Capt were killed. The Chief was seriously wounded and lost a leg. The bomb was part of some bizare robbery attempt. As a side note the crime was solved by a Sheriff's Department.

Ok, as Chappy said after being wrong the first time, there will be no points off your license. Yes your insurance company will find out but I doubt the will pull your good driver status over one ticket. The cop wrote it down so its not a big ticket anyway. I have received lots of tickets myself (enough I have had to appear before a judge 3 times) and it only took 3 years for me to from that to having a safe driver discount. Send them the money and go about your safe driving life and this won't even be a blip.

Ok Folks; I am back in the Big Apple, no major incidents on the way back.

Quick128, I got pulled over somewhere on Montgomery County and was told if I wanted to show up to court I have to come to Christiansburg, VA.

Anyway the trooper was very polite and did his thing I just hope this ticket doesn't affect my license and insurance.

Thank you all for your comments and as always Dweb rocks.
