Yeah, because an H rated tire is what's needed to handle the heavy loads these Rovers carry in the out back. No way a D or E rated tire could handle that. I may get some H rated tires for my Super Duty. When the 2,400lb truck bed camper is strapped in and you're towing an additional 6,000lbs behind you, those E rated tires just aren't enough - I better get some H rated tires on there, fast!

Yeah, I've realized that, so I'm not going that route. Probably just a 2-2.5'' lift with Fox or Bilstein shocks, and extended bump stops will be it.

I can't believe this thread has gone through 4 pages of mental masturbation when 2x's on the first page you kind of gave up on the 4.5 springs. Listen to some who've posted on your thread. They've probably tried similar or watched someone else try. I ran a 2" ish OME lift on my D2 w/suitable shocks on 265 75 KM2s, IIRC, and loved the look and offroad ability (otherwise stock).

Remote Resi shocks aren't needed unless you're running 30 min or more over washboard/other rough terrain at speed. This from Matt who built my chassis. Hence I bought non-resi CO's for my junk.

Tire choice is just that, a choice. I'm a fan of the KM2s, I think they are E rated? for a driver/offroader. I run a different tire on my buggy as it sees minimal hard surface use.

Do what you will when you can; I have no idea what 20/80 money means. Surely you've read enough online that big lift = big $. At the end of the day, we're all chasing the weak link.

They are certainly overkill in that category. I wouldn't say otherwise.

Michelin X_L and XL tires used to be made in more sizes, and even load ranges. You still find them stacked up in the back of little shops and shacks here and there, and fitted to older vehicles.

I wish they still made all of them.

Cheers,

OME shocks are all monotube.

Maybe I'm missing something. Take a look at this: http://arbusa.com/Getting-Started/Selecting-Shocks.aspx

"OME Nitrocharger shocks are a traditional twin tube design. They use a heavy steel outer tube over the more fragile inner piston tube. This has several advantages over a mono tube design. The outer tube allows for dents and dings without altering or affecting the shock operation at all."

So, whom should I trust? A guy named MM3846 or ARB USA?

I didn't realize that doctor needed to be capitalized, except when it's used as a title, e.g. Dr. Special Snowflake. You must have an inflated opinion of yourself.
I wonder how the inflation holds. He seems to have "recanted" every statement he made.

But we all grow, eventually.

Hey just checking in. Indeed your ride looks pretty good. When I was running the 235 without sways and with dislocation cones, I had to be pretty careful about stuffing/dropping too far, rubbing fenders. I had extended brake lines.

Changed some bump stops, trimmed minor on front (other than at the rear quarter trim piece). I had very solid 3" before I went to 255.
