Table on the rear door

I appreciate the other answers but was looking for advise on that specific table.

The specific table you're asking about isn't made specifically for a Discovery. To answer your question about the applicability of that table to your vehicle, call the vendor and get the dimensions of the product. Then measure the panel on the inside of the rear door. You'll be able to figure out if it will fit in that space. Just by looking at the image it's hard to tell because there is no sense of scale relative to a Disco's door.

One of the reasons people go to the trouble of custom making their own Disco door tables is because the space is asymmetrical and requires creative approaches to get the best use from it. Or because people have different needs from what is commercially available. I designed and constructed my own door panel and table setup because I also wanted storage for small items by reusing the factory plastic pocket, I wanted a modular surface I could attach things to, and I wanted a bottle opener. It took time and patience but the end result was exactly what I wanted.

If you'd rather buy something off the shelf then go for it, but set your expectations appropriately. What you get might not be exactly what you want nor a perfect fit. The upside is that you don't have to spend hours making something.

I just checked out an online review of that Front Runner table. It looks pretty good. The Front Runner website description of the product itself sucks though. But not too bad for $126. I spent $80 for 2 landed HPDE sheets (8" x 42" x 0.5" and 4" x 20" x 0.5") plus probably $40 for hinges & hardware & knobs.

No. And if they were, they'd probably cost $750. And they would be worth it.

I got a couple requests to replicate my table and politely declined. Part of the reason for doing the project was to satisfy my own curiosity and see if my ideas worked. They did, and I shared the details of the process so others could do it themselves or adapt it to their needs. The intent was never to make it a commercial product.

Th o.p. there didn't want any tangential answers.

I am not opposed to answers that lead to a working solution. In fact if someone said they have no first hand experience but here is a commercially available option that likely would be similar but tailored to the discovery I would be all over that. In fact every time it has been hinted at I have asked.

The one I am looking at is $126 bucks. Has the dimensions that would fit my stove and the door. Is a rectangle which works well with my OCD, My only real issue is the wood in the slinding portion of the table which I could have replaced or sealed to make it water tight and suitable to use for light food prep.

I was just hoping for some first hand experience or a suggestion of a commercially available alternative.

Btw,I have looked at dozens of images of excellent examples and one shown here has been one of my more favored because the use of the lifting cylinder as the stay which I felt was great.

That is kind of how I felt as well. It seemed to be a pretty good value for money. Also I have other things I could do with my time like installing my new front drive shaft.

I saw a few YouTube reviews that seem to indicate it would be a workable solution but I am so-so about YouTube reviews and prefer a first hand recommendations when possible.

Front driveshaft install should take roughly 10 minutes. Not a big test at all...

Id rather lay in cold wet leaves than go Christmas shopping.. Thats an easy decision!

I agree... Fortunate for me my wife has discovered the virtues of Amazon.com and the shopping has been greatly reduced. And our Beer place is enroute so at least I will get a pint or two.

here's a few pics

Very good looking set up... Who makes the short roof rack? I plan on doing something similar with the small Rhino rack awning and the looks like the hot ticket.

A better picture if you have one please?
