I originally thought the nylon cord on the table would be vulnerable to heat from the stove, but after several trips it has not been an issue. The cord - properly sized - is also strong enough to hold a 2-burner stove with cast-iron pan and full 2-liter pot.

Hardware stores have really nice stainless steel rods that can be handy:

Tugela, that table is nowhere near an Olivares table.

That may be, but my intent was not to better that design. I had a particular set of needs from my rear door panel and the final result satisfies those needs perfectly. It may not be an Olivares table, but it does exactly what I want it to so I'm content.

Peter, thanks for the suggestion and photo. If I need to replace the cord I'll consider that option.

Oh good, dick wagging. I haven't seen the Olivares table but if its anything like Ben's I think its probably overbuilt. Holding up one table as if its the perfect fit for all trucks and uses seems silly. I'm a big fan of keeping it simple and struts and knobs magnetic strip don't sound simple to me. You're also losing about 2" of storage with the Ben table.

I'm still trying to figure out why one needs to carry around a full block of kitchen knives when car camping?:ack:

If you think the biggest difference between Tugela's table and the Marc and Ben tables is the knife holder and cylinder, you clearly don't get it.

I carry a single Snow Peak block/ knife. That said, the magnet is extremely useful to keep the knife out of the way while prepping or cooking on the table. The trips my friends and I do have a heavy emphasis on awesome food and booze. So the table gets a lot of use for both food and booze.

The Fronteunner table would work just fine. If it compliments your style and needs, buy it.

I guess not, please elaborate. Because right now you're just coming across like a stuck up snob.
I thought the point of making your own rear door was that you could specifically design and build it for your own needs. Ben's table is really pretty but it probably didn't fit Nick's needs, nor my own.

Please tell us how it didn't fit your needs.

LOL, ok.
My goals were to replace the ratty stock door panel, retain the stock sub-woofer(if possible), make a shelf large enough for a two burner stove, and maximize internal storage capacity. I also wanted to keep it very simple and quiet(no rattling driving down the trail). That's why your table didn't fit my needs.

If someone knows these gentlemen personally, please get ahold of them and tell them to display our flag properly...or we are going to blow their country off the face of the earth.

My rear door table is basically a rack that folds down, for a two burner stove. Only cooking done by me...is making hot water for coffee. Cooking is done by the women folk around here...and if there aren't any of them around...that's what Hostess pies are for.

Brian.
