They look cool as hell but they are shit. My last deployment they never got used because they couldn't keep them running.

There is a place in Jacksonville n.c. That mods them for us to use. Problem is parts and Marines are hard on their gear.

Rangers used special defenders for a while too.

The Marines are using them for fast attack vehicles.

Yep it's a G. Canadian G2 boys are using them too.

Rangers (3/75th) are running Hiluxes. For admin around a base they might use a Defender.

Thai built Ford Rangers are populuar with the Marines overseas.

Been seeing a lot of Rangers. I've been spending some time in up armored Land Cruisers.

Toyota is dominate pretty much everywhere. But one good look at the new Thai Ford Ranger (diesel) and it's pretty much identical (looks and specs) to the Hilux.

But the "big" Marine Corp relies on the Ford Ranger quite a bit whereas the SF guys in the Army and Navy stick with Hiluxes for the most part.

I dont think they use the 110's anymore. They had a bunch made specifically for them a few years back, not admin vehicles.

They had the same issues that we have with the G's, parts and reliability issues.

Armored Land Cruisers are awesome, best armored non military vehicles i have seen.

Yeah I didn't want to upset the poopie pants here about how the Yota's have been taken over and for good reason. Super reliable, parts accessibility is incredibily good and did I say they were reliable above anything else.

We work with a lot of Army CA folks from the 98th, 95th, etc. and they still see a few 110s depending where they are, but mostly just for getting groceries and picking up parts for other broken down 110s. :)

The Fords and Chevys we have are couple levels higher in armor plate. They are faster too. But The LCs are much smother and easier to drive IMHO.

A few years back, the U.S. embassy in Kabul had 2-3 armored Gs sitting inside the wire. Nice looking trucks, but it didnt look like they got that much use.
The Chevys and Fords are nice, but the problem with them, Suburbans, Tahoes, etc. is that you stand out from a mile away. Its only a matter of putting a bigger IED/EFP in the area and those things are done. We had the LCs in Astan that blended in with the other local trucks and although they were soft skin, I preferred a lower profile of those...

One of my biggest ass pains when i was on embassy duty. We had armored subs and vans, the only ones in both countries i was in.....

Something to do with having to buy "American" unless you can justify it properly. Justification is a bitch, but can be done and takes a really really really long time.

Yeah, I liked the "blend in" approach more, although it was iffy at times in soft skin sedans in Baghdad...
