Steve and Kyle -
Sh*t happens, for all kinds of reasons - mechanical failure, mother nature, driver error, crosseyed spotter, whatever, but when it does is when a good 'wheeler can take control of the situation, make sure everyones cool, get the truck back to safety rubber side down and finish the trail.
Good job Steve on setting a positive example! You got yourself, your truck and eveyone else on the ride with you back, made sure everything was cool the next day, and carried on with a great weekend!
As a side note - I met the guy who dunked his D-90 off the causeway in '03 while I was on the trail - he said he wouldn't miss the event! The 3 people in the Rangie I helped upright in the same tank trap that caught Steve were smiling and joking the whole time. Best of all after we got the truck back to his camp the owner/driver of the flipped 109, the most serious accident I saw at the event, shook my hand and said 'that was fun!' (the recovery, I assume, and not the actual roll which was just scary). He was on the trail again by mid-afternoon.
Just goes to show, the right attitude gets you a long way!
Kyle, I hope that WHEN you need a cool head in a bad situation you can find one.
