How much do you want for the whole truck?

I'm going ask $500 for the whole truck. probably overpriced, but I saw someone bought a wrecked '96 on ebay for $1200 (front end was destroyed and looked pretty picked-over in the for-sale ad).

There's a big yard sale event this weekend, so if I can't get $500 over the weekend the asking price will start dropping. Neighbor is already showing interest, as I was removing the TJM bumper. Stock bumper is now on the truck.

TJM Bumper: $300 + shipping.

Weight is a bit over 75 lbs; will be over 75 with packaging. The mounting hardware could be shipped separately to drop the weight under 70 lbs; not sure if there is a weight limit per-box for some shippers, but I think UPS and USPS was 75 lbs?

Anyhow, size is 76x16x18 (inches). All mounting hardware included. Some of the extra supports are unused, as is the TJM beer cozy and stickers.

Put a asking price up, like you are supposed to.

BTW, look at all the "i'm parting out a D1, let me know what you want" posts that have no prices, but people are asked to "PM for the price".

what's the story with the truck? looks like a really clean high miles '94 or '95. broken cargo window, but otherwise that thing looks rust free.

It is rust-free. Has 275K miles. exhaust is getting into the coolant. head gaskets are original; last time I did a compression check (6 months ago) it was 150s and 160s. Engine fires up fine and truck is drivable, but the exhaust pushes the coolant out the expansion tank within a few miles.

Work done recently (past 6 months):

new fan clutch
valley gasket
thermostat
plugs/wires/cap/rotor/amplifier/coil
atf filter and new dexron VII atf
oil change (15-40 rotella - not synthetic)
new glass on rear door

Body wise it is in pretty good shape; no rust but the truck has always been in socal and southern nevada.

it has a tru-trac on the front axle, cold-start prom, bilstein shocks on stock springs.

all electrical stuff works: abs, windows, AC, cruise control, radio, cd, headlights, turn signals, interior lights
idiot lights all work as designed (oil, airbag, etc)

diff lock engages and disengages without any problems

no sunroofs.

I am selling because I don't want to spend the money to pay someone to do the head gaskets and after doing the valley gasket recently, am not into tackling the job myself.

I'm saving my wrenching karma for my audi which is due for some sort of repair any day now :(

Take it over to Sunset Auto on Boulder highway. They won't do it for free, but they will be fair & they have an ex-Rover technician on staff over there. I used to take all my vehicles over there when we lived in Vegas. Good shop.

if your compression was fairly close across all 8, I'd say headgaskets aren't the issue. Slipped liner is more likely?

well, I don't know how susceptible the old 3.9s are to liner dropping, but if it's gone 15 years and 275K without dropping one, don't know why it would now...

no clouds of white smoke out the tailpipe, just smells like exhaust.

yeah my '88 RRC was the same situation. Good gaskets, decent compression across the board and pressurized coolant. slipped liner at 210k...of course it went another 25k like that.
