I can walk to my cars with whatever I want where I live, and nobody will complain, but imagine those unfortunate firearm enthusiasts who live in a modern neighborhood with... Yuppies... :ack:
You can only get away with pretending to be a businessman who moonlights as a musician and towel-folding hobbyist for so long...
It's best just to holster the damned thing where it can't be seen and be done with the affair, if you mean to carry a firearm about.
That's what the permit is for. A great many people, when carrying for no predetermined purpose, would prefer to do so openly. It's easier, more comfortable, better for the firearm, and doesn't require clothing that's sometimes less than ideal.
The hassles of concealed carry, however, pale in comparison to the potential hassles of open carry, for those that don't look like they'd ever have worked for a government entity, or for those surrounded by people who would whine about the happy family pit bull two doors down being a potential powder keg of murderous chaos; because that's what their sister's hairdresser once said.
Cheers,
