I put this on another post a while ago, but if it helps, here you go:

I am very curious about your rollcage/headliner install. Please elaborate on your headliner shell. Is it completely custom or did you somehow reuse the factory shell? Is your cage just that close to the roof? I'm not a huge fan of the animal print headliner, but love the execution of it... This coming from a guy whose exterior is animal print HA!

Probably the best and cleanest I've ever seen.

Thanks for the kind words. The headliner is the factory foam or whatever it is. It was trimmed where necessary for the cage. The cage is very close to the roof, but there is a lot of space between the headliner and the roof. The cage is also welded to the roof in a few places to keep it from rattling or squeeking. The animal print looks a lot better in person than in the pics, but people either hate it or love it. There is no in between. After all that work I didn't want to put something boring back in.

Did you ever offer these up for sale? BTW great rollcage install and what seat covers are you using.

Thanks for the compliment. I have not offered the setup for sale. It was an insane amount of work, although the second one would take half as long. Like most of the stuff on my truck it just doesn't pay to try and market it. I did re-make the shifter and transfer case boots though, if you need those :)

The seat covers are the OEM waterproof ones. Mine are getting beat after almost 10 years, so it might be time to get another set.

I built this one last spring after playing around with ideas for awhile. We use it for camping offroad and it works great. The bottom drawer holds all cookware/plates/etc and the top drawer holds misc items and food for at least a week. All drawers are on accuride slides and move in and out very well. Photos show it in my P38 but I've just moved to an 03 Discovery and have just returned from a week-end trip. With the rear seats out, there is lots of room on either side of the unit and all that needs to sit on top is tupperware bins for clothes. It is so much more organized than pulling bag after bag out to get at what you need.

did you do the headliner yourself or did you have it done? Mine is starting to sag like a original set of 40 year old boobs.

I had it done locally by a very good guy. It was extremely difficult and took him over 30 hours. The fabric was a little tough to work with because it wasn't super strechy. The strechier the fabric, the easier it is to do. Plus he had to do the custom wraps around where the bars penetrated the headliner. And, most non-stock fabrics are not wide enough. Mine is actually stiched down the center, but he did such a good job you can't even tell. There are a bunch of posts on here about the stupid headliner issues these trucks have. If you search you will probably find a lot of DIY articles. There was no way I was going to try it with how difficult it was. I wanted to find a super tweaker custom guy to do it, and that's what I did and it worked out good. If I tried to do it, yikes... :ack: You can't weld fabric back up and grind it down when you screw up...
