What did you do to your RRC this weekend?

I decided it was time for a frontal assault on the dash rattles and squeaks that have developed over 173k miles, so I replaced the center bezel with a spare that I had. I knew most of the noise was coming from that since it had multiple cracks. However, I was really surprised to find that the metal radio support bracket that is riveted into the back of the dash above the HVAC box was broken loose and had a huge hole in the plastic behind it. I suppose some gorilla couldn't be bothered to line up the radio correctly at least once in the past and just stuffed it in there once upon a time.

Now that it is fixed, the airflow from the dash vents is better - always a benefit when it's in the 90s with 80%+ humidity. I even found enough of the broken tabs from the center bezel to repair the original one so I'm back to having a usable spare again.

When fixing the broken speedo bezel I saw that the speedo cluster was only held in with 2 of the 4 screws so that quieted down the rattles from there nicely.

The PS suction line that was a piece of heater hose (wtf?) got replaced so that all the PS fluid would stop oozing from it and a set of brand new tranny cooler lines from the parts truck replaced the original (2/94 date code) lines nicely. No more seeping trans fluid.

So nice to drive with no more dash rattles!

I did some more teardown on my old rusty SWB.
Took out a lot of interior bits, the headliner, and popped the rear 1/4 windows out and pulled the rubber trim.

pushed it forward a foot so the tires dont get flat spots

I know the feeling.

One of mine is on jackstands now as the parting process continues.
The other is halfway thru surgery sitting on throwaway tires.
The Hunter drives every few days so its all good.

Go out for the weekly spin after a total fluids change including a coolant / flush, bearing repacking, diff oil renew, brake fluid, and all grease points hit. Knocking on wood, yet, the Rover is running very well.

pic of more parts missing

Most of the interior is gone.
Still need to pull the tailgates, rack, drivetrain, springs...

The rust on this most recent 95 LWB parts truck notwithstanding, I'm pretty aggressive about stripping stuff down pretty thoroughly too...

I was much, much worse when I was into Buick Turbo Regals and Grand Nationals.

Wrecking yard in CT would always cringe at how little metal I'd leave them to recycle when they'd come for my parted out/stripped Buicks.

my silver RR is going to the scrapyard
rustholes in both floorboards, the sills, the A & C pillars

Rust isnt terrible but combined with every body panel being dented over the years I just got sick of it

I'm keeping the better parts; will sell the rest.

You selling parts of this? If so I'd be interested in the trim piece that surrounds the instrument cluster for a 95 soft dash. Could probably come up with some other items too. If you you're interested in parting with anything, let me know.

Heater core question: I currently have 2 empty/drained heater cores.
This one which is out of the truck entirely.
And the LWB which is in the truck but coolant drained for a motor swap.

Any preventive maintenence that can or should be done to a non-leaking heater core?
