Dogs are wonderful creatures, its negligent owners that suck. Pit Bulls and all their variants are still worthless killing machines.

Mine is the Pit mix on his back playing with his American Bull dog buddy. Obviously they are worthless killing machines..

Bah. They're some of the best dogs out there. Don't let the modern over-burdening of information, hype, and opinion fool you. Pit Bulls are great! :)

Mines a mutt. He is about as mixed as you can get! We had the vet do the DNA testing and he is definitely part pit and part wire hair terrier. When I rescued him from the shelter at 2 months old. Two other people had already adopted and returned him once they found out he was a pit mix.... Their loss.. hes the best dog Ive ever owned... and I've had dogs my whole life.

This was the day I brought him home.. Almost 9yrs ago. The white dog in the first pic is an American Bull dog. not a pit.

BS. The American Pit Bull Terrier and quite a few other breeds are bred to fight and hunt. They can be killing machines for sure and that is in their genetics.

But does that mean that the entire breed and all variants (mixes) and all individuals are worthless? If you say yes, then you're wrong.

you don't see that a lab or rottweiler killed a child on the evening news.

Really, then you go on about Rotties..

</sni<>http://www.dogsbite.org/dog-bite-statistics-study-dog-attacks-and-maimings-merritt-clifton.php

A cursory google search.

I knew a Rottweiler (Amber) that would attack the TV if animal planet was on, she was a real bitch but I loved her. She would eat any tire and especially like lawnmowers and wheelbarrows. Amber would attack most any dog in her area, the owners would muzzle her or keep her on a harness and leash when she was in public. She was trained up for Schutzhund work, it was a lot of fun to put on the bite sleeve and let her chase you down. She was a real liability and the owners handled her in such a manner she couldnt hurt anyone.

Dogs are wonderful creatures, its negligent owners that suck. Pit Bulls and all their variants are still worthless killing machines.

Tool maybe but Amber is no "wonderful creature". Harness are absolutely the worst thing to keep a dog like that on. Pinch is about the only way to control them Shock collar would be a nice addition. Muzzled is sad, but sometimes necessary.

Dogs like that really should not be "in public". I've seen it though. Crazy.

Funny how you say this about the Rottie and also that you don't hear about them maiming or killing. Go read up on that site and many others. Rotties can be just as vicious as a pit bull and pack a helluva lot more weight.

EDIT: Not a huge fan of Schutshund trained dogs either.

Cutie. Likely the mix helped his temperament quite a bit... or could have. or he's just a good dog!

I think the breed gets a bad rap, and the genetics are a problem. It's like hip dysplasia in GSD and Goldens. I have temperament tested a few very young American Pit Bull Terriors. Trying to startle them in different ways, taking toys and food from them. Trying to get them to come and heal at a really early age. I've seen good and I've seen rip your hand off at 5 weeks. Its all the individual dog.

I think MM3846 pic is mix too, but maybe not. There ARE a lot of pit bull mixes.

I have not seen that dog since Tue. He might be gone. It was a pretty exciting night and I think the rest of the people in that house might have given him the boot. I should have known I was going to insight a riot by starting this thread.

What do you guys think about a big dogs chances to still keep coming even after getting hit with the bear mace?

I did the same thing with mine. I spent A LOT of time training him to be as good as he is today. It wasnt always easy, but the pay off was totally worth it. I trust him more than some people I know.

I just ran across this story. http://abc11.com/pets/ft-bragg-soldier-saves-homeless-dog/970509/ I wish there were more people like him and less like Rover 4x4

My guess is that it depend how stubborn that dog is. If it is a Husky, it will still do a few times, some dogs just don't have a really good sense of consequences.

If I don't see him for another week I'm gonna figure he's gone. But I gotta say you guys have come up with a great solution in the bear spray.

I've probably had dog problems like this 3 times in my life and I will tell you its not always the pit. I had trouble with a drunk guys 2 dogs at my last place. One was a curly coated retriever and the other was the stupid side kick Lab. These two asshole dogs started to spread out so I couldn't watch both of them. That was probably the closest that I have ever been to getting really fucked up by dogs. Again saved by a Newfoundland 20 yrs ago. Well trained dog so he could be off leash and always available to me because of that. What if I didn't put the time and effort into training that dog and he had to be locked in a kennel. I would have been screwed. That dog was also a bigger male that moved pretty good at 145 lbs and he DID have to fight for me.

Do you have a video yet. LOL.

I think that the bear spray is likely to blind every time. So it will work that way. The dog could get used to the pain. You'd need make face contact from as far away as possible.

I only do off lead in "safe places" or when threatened.

I haven't seen the dog or the guy for about 4 days. I do off lead in my Unfenced yard. If the law says he needs a leash he's got one. I never want anybody to get slobbered on.

We have dog. Also some new info.

Finally talked with my buddy and got info on what he's experienced with this non breed specific four fucking legger . He's had the dog in his yard and had a stand off 15' from his back door. NOW GET THIS..... all he had was a can of
Off and sprayed that in the dogs eyes......the dog ran off yelping. I'm feeling good about my odds.

I was trying to talk to him about the thing last week and the phone was breaking up so I never talked to him till today.

With this many people having problems with the dog I might bait it to the back of my propperty and hammer the fucker out. Then just take the old sno mobile trail out and act like nothing ever happened. If they file a police report the boys down there know what I plan to do. I got the green light. This plan has cleared the tower. But if thats my plan I need to talk to another guy about him having his dogs put up when this goes down. I need to cross his propperty to get to the trail.

Damn.

Your mind seems made up in regard to getting rid of the dog at all costs. At least make it quick and/or painless if you follow through.

Go this route and you'll likely have to hospitalize the owner eventually, as well. I'm not sure how well that would go down with the tower. There are people will remove annoying pieces from play without all that mess.

There's a reason telephones exist.

Bah. If you're willing to do the job, go at it. Just do it clean and get all the corners. The dog is just a dog, and you don't want it coming back to you in the form of an angry neighbor behind a truck. Being tough is one thing. Looking over your shoulder all the time is another.

If you have to send a message later, you'd best make sure it's received and understood.

Cheers,

Kennith

Calm down Kenny. Or I WILL kill the thing. Damn the more you argue in the defense of this trespasser the more I want to do this. You understand this is a non lethal solution to a problem. I could do much much worse and not break any laws. I have been assured that the powers that be would not prosecute a discharge in city limits
