Why can you do one and not the other?

Why is it accepted that people should be allowed smoke breaks at work, but you cannot have a shot at work.

I dont mean getting shit faced drunk. I mean a Shot in the morning and one in the afternoon. Like a Scotch Break.

Dont say that cigarettes dont affect your state of mine like alcohol does. Tell a jonesing smoker they cannot have their fix all day and watch their state of mind.


You dotn have to leave your desk for 20 minutes to have some Scotch. Less then a minute actually, unless you choose it on the rocks...Which you still dont have to leave your desk.

The parking lot isnt going to littered with used shot glasses. In fact, shotglasses can be reused forever.

Scotch will not set the mulch on fire, as cigarettes do when the user is just too lazy to deposit it in the big, huge, outdoor ash tray.

Both are completely legal addictions.

As a former smoker (quit in January after 14 years of smoking), and a long time drinker... I think that drinking at work is a bad idea (at least in my job-office environment).

I'll agree that while smoking, if I was denied one, I'd start nicfittin' pretty bad, but having that cigarette DID not affect my mind the way alcohol does. I do a lot of side freelance work, while having cigarettes I kept working harder and longer, the few times I'd have a drink, it'd unmotivate me for the most part.

Remember, nicotine is a stimulant while alcohol is a depressant.

As for the littering of cigarette butts, I agree thats laziness.. I'm in no sense an environmentalist greeny, but I *always* made sure my cigarette butts were in an ashtray, even when on the trail, they'd go into an empty bottle (I have been known to yell at other people on the trail about that too.) I think workers who litter the parking lot should have their smoking privileges revoked.

Also to me, cigarettes are about equal to coffee... I don't drink coffee, but I know if you took it away from people, they'd go crazy as well.

Just my opinion on it...

Yes, I do. They spend, about a hour a day weezing down thier cancer sticks, on the clock of course...Because it's their "right". Then you go out the door theres a pack of these junkies stinking up the place.

Then, they cant even get the used up ones in the ash tray outside. Yeah, thats real tough, You're just standing there anyways, put it in the fucking hole. No, these morons throw it in dry mulch so once a month we can have a small fire outside.

Its only harmless until you kill some child skipping their way along.
Every vice has an up and down depending on who's looking at it. Hell I smoke and I don't even like being near the other smelly smokers but I'd rather be around a smoker than a sloshed drunk. If someone drinks too much, they could be a problem to work around for the rest of the day, start throwing up all over the place, possibly on you, etc. At least with a smoker, if they should somehow inhale way too much in one sitting, maybe with luck they will just go into a stroke. You get a little entertainment, and then can go back inside and be the office hero for being the first hand story teller of what all the other non-smokers missed outside. The worst will be that you smell a little like smoke but at least you wont have the your balls grabbed by the office mail guy who after 3 shots has decided to come out of the closet and molest you.

20 minute breaks? Are they getting sun tans while they are out there? I'm out there no more than 6 minutes.. and that includes the walk to and from my desk.

Untill recently last 5 yrs , it was acceptable to have a drink during a break.
Up untill 5yrs ago Guinness was available in the cafeterias where
my company employees had there breaks.

I spent much time in Toulouse at the Airbus factory , in there cafeteria they had a wall
with magnums of different wines running through copper tubing to a tap.
These people are assembling Aeroplanes.

Wine cigs beer all the same.
The guiness is gone ,wine is still in Toulouse

A friend of mine, (Steve) once watched a guy throw an ashtray full of cig butts out of his window, the guy worked at the same place as my friend. Steve got so mad, but decided not to confront him right away.


Steve spent the weekend gathering about 200 cig butts and put them in a plastic bag, where they stayed until one day this littering fool left his sunroof open. Steve placed a note on the car, saying "You dropped us!". He then poured the bag of cig butts in the car.

The guy was furious after work, called the police and everything. Steve said the police just kept asking him where he had dropped all of the butts at and if he knew why someone would do this to him and his car.
