15 minute job. Hardest part is removing the plugs. Yeah right!

I got the plugs off no trouble, then got to the part about prising off the plate and sliding out the ECU. My plate seems to be firmly attached by some invisible force. I can lever out one side of it, but there's no way that's coming out! I tried gripping part of it with pliers and pullling, and lost the skin off one knuckle when the pliers let go.

Taking out the three nuts that hold the enclosure looks almost impossible without removing half the dash, so how does everyone else manage it? Am I missing something here?

Help a brother out, I'm losing the battle here!

Man, that little cover is tough. I had all 3 tabs on the open side released, and it still took a mighty pull with some pliers to rip it off.

FYI. On right hand drive models there's no need to unbolt the enclosure at all, once the cover is off the ECU slides right out.

I'm attempting to have the disco back to 100% operation by 200,000 km. Rear windows now working, backlights in a/c swtich and rear wiper switch done. Just 3 door lock springs, cruise control pump and a replacement remote to go!

Yea, this is an old thread, but I thought I would revive based on what I found.
Problem, rear windows no longer work and they were down, so I could not drive her until fixed.
First - pulled the console window switch and checked for power, nothing.
Second - Pulled the Window ECU. Touched up a couple of suspect solder joints. I took off the front two 7mm nuts, tilted the case upwards so the ECU would easily slide-out/in. Plugged everything back in... Nothing!
Third - did my own jumper based on the Atlantic British fix in order to bypass the ECU. Still nothing.:banghead:
Finally - I pulled the window console switches back out, ran a line from the battery to the back of the switch connector and rolled both windows up.

The issue is not fixed, but the problem is solved. Guess I will call Will and see what an ECU runs.

Yea, good catch, but I forgot to add that as my very first step. I am so used to going directly to the damn fuses whenever any e-gremlins show-up... I just simply overlooked that step in my not-so-detailed details. But thanks D.

The instructions on the Atlantic British site are slightly confusing...do I splice into the pink/white wire on the connector side, or going the other way?
