Really? $630 for a DII XYZ switch? I had to replace mine 5? years and 56,000 miles ago. When I bought a new one then it was over $200 and I thought that was expensive considering what the part is. But over $600? That was the price at the Atlantic British web site tonight. I know that the price of gold is way, way up, but that can't explain it.

Of course if I actually need to buy one I would call PT or Will, but if AB wants $630 I doubt our guys would be able to sell a new one for $200.

Today I noticed that the red indicator light on the shifter was not illuminated, which I recall was an early warning sign the last time the XYZ went bad. Thankfully the selected gear is still shown on the instrument panel, so maybe it is just the lamp that is not working.

I agree that is probably the best option, although given the apparent failure rate of these I would prefer new if the price were more reasonable. Unfortunately the salvage yards around here seem to only rarely have DIIs. Thank goodness for Will, Marty, Paul and others.

They are stupidly expensive, even if bought out of the UK.

The best I could do, if available would be more than $550- closer to $575.

Are they rebuildable/fixable?

I took mine apart after i replaced it, cleaned it up. Not sure how to test it but it looks like all the contacts are good. I think it died from A/C drain water getting into it.

The price more than doubled last summer and I don't know why. That said I could sell one new for $510 shipped.
