It was just a dude in a ditch that they happened across. They weren't testing the Evoque. They don't purport themselves to be recovery experts, or any experts for that matter. They're just automotive journalists. I like their Ike Gauntlet videos, they do a pretty thorough job trying to test and compare the trucks fairly.
I disagree. It's "the way they said it" and "what they didn't say" that is a recurring issue. I sound like a woman there... Not helping Ridgeline's case at all....
They aren't journalists; more hobbyists with good presentation. There's a distinct "reality show" vibe coming through the monitor on that channel, and quite a bit of dramatization.
I still find it entertaining, though, and I don't believe they are biased (as they have been accused before). I jut think they don't consider the consequences of what they say sometimes, and should brush up on their research before and after tackling the review of a vehicle.
It's not just them; it's a problem with reporting in general these days, but with the amount of exposure they have they should be doing a bit more exposing.
I watch their show like I do Linustechtips. It's fun, but I never take what he says as complete or factual, even though he presents himself as a serious outlet for technology reporting and review. He's not.
He just doesn't know it.
Cheers,
