Is that thing at "access" height or something?
I have it set to automatically drop to access height when I turn off the engine - the wife is 5'2" with a bad knee so its a bit of a step up for her.
That's why I had to buy the "steps" (otherwise known as rock sliders) from Lucky 8 so she could have something to help her get into and out of the truck.
I had a 2017 Discovery 5 TDV6 diesel that I traded in on this Rover - it was an outstanding car that was very capable, comfortable and economical to run. I just never liked the rear end with the big hatch but that was about my only complaint. I took it up a trail at one of our Land Rover events that several trucks either struggled with or couldn't get up and it just walked it like it was no problem. The new 110 is Land Rover #20 for me - I've been driving Land Rovers since 1972.

@JackW , I like the look of the factory roof rack on your new Defender - clean, simple, low profile, and stout. Have you had a chance to use it yet? What has your experience been?

And about that argument as to what is a station wagon - this is a Station Wagon - it says so right on the badge...

The rack is very stout, I haven't used it yet - I have a new Terrapod roof tent on order that I plan to use on both my new and old Defenders as the need arises. The one issue is that it is noisy due to the transverse cross bars. The Hannibal rack on the D90 is quieter due to the longitudinal bars on that rack. My experience with a variety of roof racks is that longitudinal racks are quieter. It will probably be quieter with a load on it.

These trucks have been doing great. For how many we have put on the road we don't see a lot of problems. And like Jack mentioned, they drive great. I just don't understand how some of you guys have such strong hatred for a truck you've never driven.

So don't buy one - maybe there is a Jeep out there with your name on it. A rusty one...

I saw a 110 the other day in person, or at least as close as I'll ever get. Another parent had it in the parking lot at my kid's swim practice.
I don't hate it. I actually kind of liked it. Not as a Defender, but the look overall.
The rear door is too small and the price tag too steep, but it grew on me a bit.
14-15mpg around town is abysmal. My 2004 Sequoia gets that!!!

The new Defender looks like it was designed for vegans, and people who are worried about their carbon footprint.

I own four Land Rovers (two of them are diesels), a sports car and a two stroke motorcycle - and I'm 69 years old and retired.
I don't think I'm too worried about my carbon footprint.. But I do like the way the 110 looks.

There’s more backseat room, not as much cargo space compared to the D3/4.. I’m curious if the 130 rumors are true, bc I’d be all over one in a couple years.

I agree with this sentiment.

The charm of the original Defender lay in it's lack of refinement...beautifully clunky.

While the new one is kinda cool in its own right, it doesn't capture that piece of the heritage.

Having seen a few in person now I like the rear end more and the front less. Saddlebags look weird in person. I’m sure it drives nice, but that fuel economy is terrible unless it has a 24 gallon tank. I’m still not sure if I would choose it over a GX460, though. My GX470 has 140k on it now. Nothing breaks and it always works correctly. I’m not sure it’ll ever be replaced.

The 110 has a fuel tank capacity of around 23.6 gallons - the 14-15 mpg I'm getting is running around town in stop & go traffic, probably the worst conditions although my TDV6 Discovery 5 was getting 20-21 mpg in the same scenario. I'm expecting the mileage to increase on a long road trips to somewhere around 18-20 on the highway. The 4 cylinders have a 4.10 ratio axle where the sixes have a 3.55 which will make a significant difference in mileage but give the four a lower crawl ratio for off road work.

The Discovery 5 spoiled me with 30-31 mpg, over 600 miles on a tank of diesel and monster torque for towing. Why Land Rover doesn't want to bring the D300 inline six diesel to the USA is a mystery to me.
