I think you are going to have to drop the transmission pan again and look at the shifter cable end that is in there. You might have moved it around. I remember almost messing mine up when I replaced my kickdown cable and thinking "wow, you just about messed that up big time" when I caught it.

If it's the original radiator, then it most likely is stuffed. You might be able to get it re-cored. I got mine re-cored a couple years ago, but I think it's stuffed again as I'm getting increased temperatures during slow climbs uphill. I had another Rover where they couldn't re-core it, so it's...
