Even though I didn´t have any ABBA fishpaste handy the change to another used downpipe cured my problem. One of the old catalysts had a big chunk of material loose in it effectively blocking it.

Hello,
As there is more experiance of V8 engines in the US compared to my end of the world I hope some one can give me some advice. My 1999 D II V8 auto has started to give me headache. The other day it suddenly started to be very slow. I mean can´t go above 60 km/h slow. Checking the fault codes...
It is for sure the tensioner pulley. It is a well known problem/phenomenon that it is getting out of alignment with age, when the spring gets tired and I am sure it must have been discussed in this forum several times if you search for it. One quick fix besides getting a new tensioner is to put...

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately for me I followed all advice/instructions how to adjust the bearings, including the first high torque and bending of lock washers. Also I have used new washers (actually new bearings and seals as well). Could the washers be of bad quality? I mean a poor fit...

Hello,

The starter inhibitor switch is grounding the starter relay position 86 (through the alarm) when it is in P or N. If you use a fused jumper lead and ground this position you could easily test if the switch or the alarm is causing your problem. If the starter cranks when 86 is grounded and when...
