I have seen a lot over 200k miles. Even supercharged ones.

The arm rest handle thing is normal... Crap materials. That's why you buy the lux package. Doesn't have that issue on pre 2007's

Why? Low mileage ones are cheap enough.

not looking to expand the fleet yet, trying to save for a house. i see 03-05s with ~120k for 10-12 grand for sale in the city... but most of those things are beat even if they are sporting a fresh coat of wax.

every week or so one this nice pops up:

Don't buy anything older than '06, they are total turds, every single one of them.

Someone told me the transmissions on 06 up models have a built in ecu so you can't install a used one. Anyone know anything about that?

Whats the beef with 03-05? I know the trans and steering columns break. Anything else? I'm not being a jerk, just honestly want to know.

They are all just falling apart at this point. The BMW motor is a piece of junk, and leaks from every possible place. The '06 trucks are supposed to be 40% quieter, which I definitely believe. The steering columns break in all of them, but more frequently in the older trucks. Those trucks are the ones that come in to the shop on a tow truck the most.

The transmission control module is built into the transmission, but it can be updated to work in another vehicle. I've put a used LR3 transmission into a Range Rover.

06 up transmissions are generally very reliable except on supercharged ones that never had updates done then got one with high miles. It eats the clutches. Zf and rover had a bitch fest about this.....

All of the ZF transmissions are pretty reliable. The torque converters in 03-05 Range Rovers can cause a weird noise/vibration, but that can be fixed by flushing the transmission with 12 qts of expensive fluid.

So the only complaint about the L322 is that the transmission may be weak and there may be problems with the engine (though no one has said what)?

I see under 100kmi 2005 models here for under $15k. 2006 models are $24k or higher generally.

I like the shark gills better than the shiny grills on the 06 anyway.
