Let's find out if she also wears the braces as well.

"Boots and Braces". Curiously enough that started with black African miners.

Meh,.. still doesn't mean crap. Ask her if she has her lightening bolts,

Funny enough I still have my 20 hole oxblood docks, but with the *white* laces.

I've not bought a pair but I have heard raves about Russell's. They are custom made for your feet and in many different styles (not just upland bird). Price wise they aren't that much more than most others. They are made to be rebuilt as needed and are made in USA, which is a plus to me and is hard to find. I recently got a catalog from White Boots which are also custom. They are more a logger style than the Russell's but might be worth a look.

Marty, Just my 2 cents. but I prefer Wesco,s made in America and Viberg, Made in Canada. I am on my feet all day, 7 days a week.
Some may look at cost and say that it is prohibitive. It has been my experience that you can spend 150.00 on a pair of steel toed work boots and have them last a year, maybe.Or can you spend 300.00 + and get a boot that stand up for years and provide the proper support to keep my feet and knees pain free.
Give either of these a look see

The best pair of boots I've ever owned is a pair of HH Brown Matterhorn's that I can't find anymore. They are about 15 years old and built like a tank and have been resoled a couple of times now. Mine are brown, but the only version I can find anymore are the black ones that they sell to the military.

They have them in the tan suede now as well, Matterhorns are awesome boots.

I've looked through a decent selection of common garden-variety boots (Georgia, Cat, etc.), and I am now a happy owner of a pair of Eccos.
Nothing (available in brick and mortar stores) comes close.
I'll report my walking experience in a month.

Awesome boots! I wore a pair forever in the military, even wore them in survival school in Wa. in Jan/Feb (asshole deep in snow most of the time). I bought some similar Danners in the past but they were not nearly as comfortable as the Matterhorns.

The Matterhorns rocked. I've still got a serviceable pair here. Boy was I ever happy when I was issued those. Before that, watching our full battle rattle squad standing still on ice was like watching like a game of whack-a-mole.

It fucking sucked.

The Matterhorns were also more insulated. That was nice as well, but not nearly as nice as no longer falling on your ass all the time because of hard rubber and center slicks.

Cheers,

Kennith

As I understood it, red laces were for communists... that is IF you believe in the meaning behind colored laces. White for the the racist pricks. I had pink laces for a while until they broke. I don't know too many punks that take the colored laces seriously. Skins maybe, but I don't know too many skinheads (and no, I don't mean nazi skins, not all skinheads are nazis just like not all nazis are skinheads).

I don't do braces. Not my thing.

there are hidden meanings behind the color of one's shoe laces? good grief...

No shit. I bought a pair of some black hiking boots that have red laces to go along with my bald head. I didn't realize that now apparently I'm advertising some kind of skin head status. I can't keep track of all this nonsense. It was bad enough when I was a kid and bought some converse all stars and a friend told me I was sporting gang colors.

This means this; That means that... Blah blah blah.

Damn, just wear what the fuck you want. Who gives a shit what some idiot skinhead thinks about the various manners in which colors can clash?

Why let that get in the way of sexy?

I like all the little sparkly bits; those nice little silver waist chains that are kind of like a shiny belt you wear with no clothes, a few piercings, even that thing I've seen here and there where they glue fake gemstones in fancy patterns on their skin. I even like the masquerade look that some of them are going for with the makeup.

The way I figure it, if you are going to paint your face, it ought to be something artistic and alluring, with some color, fire, even glitter to it; not just a layer bland to make what nature gave you boring.

All of the neat clothes that people are wearing nowadays are nice too. I was watching a television show called Castle, and an episode was airing that involved something called "steampunk". Well, I wasn't entirely clear on what that was, so I had a go on the old internet.

Yup. I definitely think it should be encouraged pretty much everywhere. I don't care what it's about. I don't even need to know...

If you have a go at your hair with some creative colors here and there, it's like firing up a lighthouse on the other side of the room. Someone that is better than everyone else in the room has arrived, my time is no longer wasted, and I will probably call you over shortly.

And, if you feel the need to go about in big black boots with red laces, more power to you. That sends me a little message that I assume must be durability and endurance, and if you also fit the descriptions in the paragraphs above... You're going to need plenty.

I ain't worried about no damn skinheads.

Cheers,

Kennith

Wasn't directing anything at you. It's all a bunch of nonsense to me, and that was my point, until I went off somewhere else.
