All of does is show the direction the LR designs are going. I don't like it. I will probably end up buying whatever Jeep makes in the future Wrangler models if I continue to live in the US. If I move to the UK or Europe I'll buy a 2015 Defender 110 double cab.

I never had any intention of sleeping inside, although that is something I would like now. The bed is too small to be useful for most things. You lose even more space when you put a spare back there, and anything you put back there isn't secure. I could carry one mountain bike back there with the front wheel hanging over the tailgate which was nice. The back seat is super cramped and I seem to remember headroom being an issue in the back seat because of the roof shape. I genuinely used to think that the 110 doubcab was the most desirable Defender 110, but now, for me at least, it is the most undesirable.

Just curious, what makes it perfect for you Matt?

Perfect size for small farm animals which I will have if living in the UK. I hated putting yard related waste/foliage or vegetation in the back of the station wagon. As much as I like the station wagon, I always wanted the bed to easily move things that are to large to fit into the rear door. Smaller area to heat. Bigger interior than a ford ranger quad cab at the cost of the bed size. Pimp-ass-face-melting look.

I'm sure the D5 is great, but I can't get over the looks. I'm thrilled that I upgraded my D2 to a D4 a few months ago, so now I don't have to make a decision about abandoning the LR brand for many years. That said, I didn't like the D3's looks when it was introduced, and obviously, that's changed. Maybe the D5 will be less terrible in time.

Probably because they have actually driven them and know that they are built on the same platform as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

Which are both the most effeminate iterations yet. Not good news for the D5 when it's close relatives are more valley girl than utility.

I thought I was looking in a mirror for a minute. I can definitely see the DNA, the heritage, some witty phrase that uses the words whilst and tyre.

All that D5 is missing is a KVT backpack rack. Certainly carries on the #LandRoverHeritage of the Discovery line well...

That is a Discovery Sport, which is the LR2 replacement, which is the Freelander replacement. I think we can all agree that the Discovery Sport is an improvement over the Freelander.

Easy to get confused when the entire lineup looks identical. Whenever I see a new Rover in the wild I have give it a hard look to figure out what the fuck it actually is.

When the bar was set so miserably low, it's easy to rise above it. Maybe the designers need to start wearing more plaid and fire all the dudes with man buns drinking Stella.
