I have a 9 yr old German Shorthair Pointer named Heidi. Absolutely the best dog I've ever had. She is from North Dakota. Before I brought her out hunting the first time I spent a very little time training her. The first time we went out, she really didn't know what she was there for. After finding her first bird, she turned into a pro. I've had her out when it is so cold she could hardly walk and she didn't want to leave. Awesome hunter. At home she's also a great dog but gets a little separation anxiety. When we leave, we have to dead bolt the doors with a key from the outside because she learned how to open doors. It wouldn't be a big deal if she would just shut it when she left. Anyway I'll never own anything else.

I've got an English Shepherd (I think) named Mika. She's tri-colored and her name is an Indian word for intelligent Racoon. She has a black masked-face!

My husband and I also have a black lab/Akita mix named Max and a black lab/border collie or german shepherd mix named Blacky. They both live with his parents since they've been there since long before we married.

My kids

My current avatar is of my Border Collie when he was just a mere pup. His name is Dewey and is much smarter than I am! Now if I could teach him to wrench...

My other kids are:
Penny - a golden retriever, chow, cocker mix (stubborn as hell)
Ripley - a border collie, lab, pit bull mix (about as smart as a hub cap)
Boo Boo Bear - a sharpei, basenji mix that wandered up and I am fostering - she could use a good home *hint hint* She is gentle and smart, housebroken and can hi-five!
I'm also step mom to Pip a black lab mix, and Jack a shitzu.
