What is the purpose for Restricted Use 3-Day Permit?

A Restricted Use 3-Day Permit allows a person to operate an unregistered vehicle or a vehicle with a suspended registration from the present location of the vehicle to a specified destination. The Restricted Use 3-Day Permit is valid only for the following purposes only:
 • Emissions Testing
 • Vehicle Inspection
 • Application for Title and/or Registration
 • Vehicle repair to comply with Emissions or Inspection
The Restricted Use 3-Day Permit is valid only for these stated purposes. Travel for any other purpose, including commercial interstate movement, is strictly prohibited.
Customer Advisory: misuse of this permit is a violation of Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 28, Chapter 7, Article 16, subjecting the violator to civil and/or criminal penalties.

As long as you're transporting from one location to another, and are non commercial, you'll have no problems. Or opt for the 30 day permit.

Nope probably no reimbursement, but what I have done is not get my plates changed over from the place I left until they are expired. I have also been real slow changing my license over to a new location but when I am forced to do one I will do all. Just be quiet about when you moved...

az_max: Is this www.servicearizona.com temp plate good across all the US? That rocks if so.

Most states have some sort of online or automated system like that. Check your local state before using SA. There's even one for trailers that don't have a vin, comes in handy for older vehicles :D

The 30 day tags have similar restrictions.

Probably, the cops don't know where your repair shop of choice is.

What is the purpose for 30-Day General Use Permit?

A 30-Day General Use Permit allows a person to operate a vehicle when no other permit applies.

Who can use ServiceArizona to obtain a 30-Day General Use Permit?

The current vehicle owner while arranging for the:

Sale of their existing vehicle after the license plate/credit is transferred to a newly acquired vehicle; or
Repairs needed for the vehicle to pass an emissions test.
NOTE: If the vehicle is sold, the new owner must obtain registration in the new owner`s name and transfer title within fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of sale.

Really, if you have an official looking piece of paper taped to your window, the cops will leave you alone.

BTW, if you get a 3 day permit on Friday, it becomes a 5 day permit :D

Whilst in Sunny Florida, I discovered (no pun) that their tags expire on a specific date, mostly your birthday. Got pulled, it had been like 3 days expired. The guy says it expired on your birthday, I told him my birthday is in November, it was February! lol - loaner cars.....aren't they great! Still got a tickit from the puffer....but it was worth the laugh....$70 bucks in the land of the Mouse. Got to love the old USA:patriot:

I have a CCW permit. When I get stopped by an officer, one of the first things I say is, "I have a permit to carry, just wanted to let you know that I do not have any weapons in the car." Otherwise, he argues with you, goes back to his car, and THEN finds out you might have a gun. Think of it from the officer's point of view, best to put his mind at ease as quickly as possible.

For that matter, keep your hand on the wheel, flip your dome light on, and never reach for anything without telling him what you are doing ahead of time.

You may know you're a "proper person" but he doesn't.

I don't know how well that works. I don't have a permit but after an unhappy incident where i got a glock pulled on me while looking for my registration i always keep my hands on the wheel with fingers spred while they walk up. This always leads to questions "Do you have a gun in the car?" "Wheres the gun at" or my favorite "You must either have a gun or get arrested a lot" Ahh the joys of getting pulled over.

Bullshit! Statistically and using any other metric you wish to use, the vast majority of contacts a LEO will have will be with a citizen who is guilty of nothing, or at worse, a minor civil infraction. It is the thinking on the part of LEOs that everyone is out to do them harm that leads to the poor attitudes on the part of far too many LEOs.

A LEOs default position should be one of trust and respect, not mistrust and disrespect.

They work for us. LEOs only arrest innocent citizens. I have a right, a permit and an obligation to own and carry a gun.

Add to all of this that the vast majority of folks carrying firearms are doing so completely legally.

Thats awesome, I had no idea that you could do that online now. I guess the information age is finally trickling down to the government offices. I have always just rented a dolly or trailer to get this stuff done.

no disrespect paul, but tell that to this guys' family. there's a fine line that must be walked but to trust everyone is not good officer safety practice. btw, i'm tired of going to these memorial services. http://www.chp.ca.gov/memorial/memorial2000.html

*BZZZT* wrong answer!

https://www.colorado.gov/apps/dor/dmv/vehicle/registration/renewal/welcome.jsf

What is the ?Grace Period? for vehicle registration renewals?

The ?Grace Period? for vehicle registration renewals refers to a period of one month beyond the last day of the month at the end of each twelve-month registration period. As defined by Colorado Statute, renewals are required to be completed ?not later than the last day of the month following the date of expiration.? This one month period is known as the ?Grace Period?.

For more information, please visit the Colorado State Revised Statutes search.

None taken, but that is still a rare occurrence. So rare in fact that it does not make up for the poor "Us against Them" mentality that far too many LEOs have to their served communities.

I won't even go into the statistics of how often LEOs shoot innocent folks versus the incidence of private citizens accidentally killing someone.

think theres a chance they'll cover my towing/storage fees?
couple years ago, my jeep got stolen.
it got recovered several days later; officer asshole calls me at 12:30am and says "Are you missing a jeep?" Gee, do you think that's why I reported it stolen, dumbass?

anyways, they have the jeep towed at my request, since i thought the insurance people would want a look-see before i took it home.
They didn't, so I went the next day (15 hours later) to pick it up.
Right on the counter, it says $60 per day or something. The woman tells me $120.
WTF says I.
She says "it came in yesterday, then today, that's 2 days."
"First of all, it came in TODAY, at 1AM. It's been 15 hours. How bout I pay you $60 and we call it even?"
She had to call someone and ask if that would be ok, then agreed.
bleach-blonde, gum-cracking, piece of stupid shit.

I was specific about them using a flatbed rather than dragging it, which they did do.

I think you really got screwed. The 30 Day grace period is statutory in Colorado is not the officers discretion. From the Colorado DMV website:

HB 05-1140 Motor vehicle registration late fees. Changes the late fee for registering a motor vehicle from the greater of 10 percent of the tax or $10 to not more than $10. Allows the late fee to be waived. Instructs the Department to place a notice on a registration card that Colorado law provides for a 30-day grace period for registration renewal. Effective July 1, 2005.

I'd file a complaint.
