lol... Jen, I've got a couple of Juliana Hatfield CD's myself.... wore Only Everything out on my way to Pittsburgh and back time before last, it and Radiohead.

Cosmo's DM reference brought back Bitchin' Camaro memories, and Axel, I've always been a fan of older Yes (Fragile in particular).

I'm a bit eclectic; Iris DeMent and Shakira, Iron Maiden and Metallica, Black Crowes and the Grateful Dead, Nick Drake and the Shins, Barenaked Ladies and John Prine, Tori Amos and Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Seven Nations and MacKeel and Clandestine; etc. etc., just a really wide range of anything....

I'm a jazz fan (bebop) so bear with me here. It would have to be the band that Miles put together for Kind of Blue: Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Wynton Kelly, Jimmy Cobb.

the dead milkmen are excellent...! have you heard the best thanksgiving ever? its a spin off of bitchin camaro...about salmonella poisoning...f-king hillarious!

but i will go with the pink floyd theory for the fav band...since they have influenced so much of the music i have come to love.

i feel so naked and vulnerable without my avatar...:(

How old are you guys? I saw the Dead Milkmen in a tiny little hotel bar back in '87. Are tehy still playing?

As for bands, even with how little I think of Mickey Hart after meeting him (or rather, NOT meeting him in spite of paying him $8500), my all-time favorite band is the Dead, with Jerry preferably.

Peace,
PT

Axel,

If you like Wakeman, check out the Strawbs. Everyone started somewhere... These guys rocked, and still do on occasion.

I'd have to say either Iron Maiden or the Strawbs are my all time favorites. I can't decide between the two, but given only one band to listen to for the rest of my days, it would be the Strawbs, for their variety.

Cheers,

Kennith

Right on, I'm also a fan of Miles...I hear a lot of John Coltrane and Bill Evans on XM 72 "Beyond Jazz." Yellowjackets are good. I enjoy the Dave Brubeck Quartet as well.

It is damn near impossible to list just one band as an all time favorite but here goes mine:

Little Feat

Of course I am talking about the Lowell George years may he rest in peace:patriot:

Mike

I am gonna say that my favorite band is ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead.

Bands that I totally rock out to and everybody should check out:

U2
Coldplay
The Shins
Chevelle
The Killers
Muse
O.A.R.
The Lovely Feathers
Coldcut
Jimmy Eat World
The Arcade Fire
The Del McCoury Band
Widespread Panic
Matisyahu

Seriously check out those bands. You will not be disappointed. If you want song recommendations, just ask. Seriously, all the albums I have by the previously mentioned bands I can listen to all the way through without changing the songs.

Matt you have listed two if my favorites there too. So many folks list WP as some sort of "Phish or Dead" like band. They are so much more and by far more talented musically and lyrically IMHO:bigok:

Cheers,

Mike

ps check out Jupiter Coyote if you like Panic.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest and most influential bands ever, IMO.
Also probably my fav, but I love the Allman Brothers too.

Oh, and O.A.R is freakin awsome!

I saw Jupiter Coyote open for the Allman Brothers featuring Warren Haynes and Dick Betts. Those "brothers" sure can play:applause:
