If some government hack forced my 4-year-old to eat chicken mcnuggets instead of the lunch I packed for her I would beat the ever-living shit out of him.

Preschooler?s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria ?Nuggets?

State agent inspects sack lunches, forces preschoolers to purchase cafeteria food instead

Raeford, NC
A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl's turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs - including in-home day care centers - to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones.

The girl's mother - who said she wishes to remain anonymous to protect her daughter from retaliation - said she received a note from the school stating that students who did not bring a "healthy lunch" would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.

To hell with preschoolers, they ought to implement that kind of meal inspection on the job. There's people in my office that hit Five Guys like three times a week.

This part just really chaps my ass:

...according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

Can you imagine a motherfucking government agent inspecting your 4 year-old's lunchbox and then issuing a government order on what to feed her? And then to add insult to injury they send you a fucking bill for the alternate menu? The next day my child's lunchbox would have a fucking pissed off honey badger stuffed in it for the agent to inspect.

The fact that she wishes to remain anonymous is probably the scariest part. This is the type of stuff people should be getting visibly and vocally angry about.

As soon as people start giving in, they'll take more and more.

You gotta do more than that, you gotta start pointing fingers in peoples faces.

You gotta start calling the news, police (unlawful search and seizure possibly?), and go downtown and get your shitkickers dirty. People like us need to start speaking up when we see something in public that isn't right.

I think I read somewhere that people will put themselves in danger and at risk just not to offend or insult somebody. So people will walk down a dark alley with a shady stranger just not to seem racist or prejudice...maybe not that exact example but similar.

People have to start speaking up, people have to start putting their foot down, and they have to start pushing back against these crimes of government policy.

In the bunker
Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture and the former governor of Iowa is behind this, in my opinion. He is also a lapdog to Obama.

Does anyone think we are getting close to a Brazil level of government intrusion?

Read up a little bit and you'll find who is behind it all. I'll give you a hint, it ends with Obama.

From the article:

The state regulation reads:

"Sites must provide breakfast and/or snacks and lunch meeting USDA requirements during the regular school day. The partial/full cost of meals may be charged when families do not qualify for free/reduced price meals.

"When children bring their own food for meals and snacks to the center, if the food does not meet the specified nutritional requirements, the center must provide additional food necessary to meet those requirements."

I've made the important bit stand out.

The USDA requirements were probably intended to be a guideline, not requiring mandatory enforcement. In states/localites that DO enforce it, the judgement call should be up to the teacher so that there's a framework to help kids whose parents pack them a coke and a twinkie, and so kinds who won't eat stewed vegetables from the cafeteria can still eat real food for lunch.

When my oldest was in preschool his lunch typically consisted of things he really liked, a container of sauerkraut and one of plain yogurt and sometimes a wedge of lemon.
I guess I should be in prison.

Welcome to the progressive police-state, where "agents" monitor every aspect of life to make sure that we are all doing what the state requires. Remember, it is your right to a nutritious meal (chickin nuggets?) and the state is here to make sure you get it -- for free.
