If I had a bucket of gasoline in my room, or was in a pack of people all carrying buckets of gasoline, I would be extremely wary of that fact.

Nobody gives a shit what makes you uncomfortable. Right now, people like you are more dangerous than people like me.

...And that's fucking saying something.

Cheers,

Not being able to have a gun makes you uncomfortable. Why should anyone give a shit about that?

What kind of a person is a person like me?

A kind of person that says this:

I understand guns. While I am not scared of them, I would say i am uncomfortable around them.

My discomfort is pretty simple. If there are guns around me, there is a chance, purposefully or accidentally, of me being shot in the face. If there are no guns around me, there is no chance of me being shot in the face.

Your mind battle makes me nervous. Are you uncomfortable of the gun? The person with the gun? Both? I'll say it again, you could get control of your gun emotions a little better with some good information. A little knowledge goes a long way.

just to clear up discomfort vs. fear

Riding in a car without a seatbelt makes me uncomfortable. I would prefer not to ride in one that way, but whatever. Not the biggest deal to go without one.

Flying scares the shit out of me. I hate the drive to the airport. I hate getting that first whiff of jet fuel. I hate being stuffed into a cramped, aluminium coffin. From the moment of take-off, I spend the whole flight hoping I dont hear or feel something weird that signals an unplanned skydive from 30,000 feet up.

Nice pic. Good food for thought.

I dont feel like I am being overly emotional. I still dont get what type of person I purportedly am. Ya'll can be blunt...I got my bigboy pants on :)

R.e. cops

Whenever I see a cop walking around, my eyes are always drawn to their gun. Why? No idea, but I am very conscious of the fact that they are packing.

Perhaps my mistrust of being surrounded by others with them stems from a subconscious feeling that I would not trust myself with one?

This is getting deep...

Don't put words in my mouth. I can't be tricked that easily.

That question alone is proof that you are either willfully ignorant, or the most damnable fool on Discoweb.

I find this fascinating. Well really I find it more disturbing-is this the state of portions of America today?

God forbid folks at Lexington and Concord had such timid thoughts. Or our forefathers moving west, fighting in the world wars, etc. If this country ever gets to a state where this is the preponderance of folks we should self select and let a more worthy group subjugate us.

I assumed that since you are not a fan of a gun ban, that the thought of not being able to have a gun makes you uncomfortable.

If that is not the case, I apologize.

The second part is based on my assumption. I was just saying that if an opinion is not worth giving a shit about, why is the opposite of that opinion worthy of giving shit?

I wouldnt worry too much.

I dont think the stuff bouncing around in my head represents the majority.

So it's begun...

http://www.ktar.com/23/1601692/NY-passes-1st-US-gun-control-bill-since-massacre
Under current state law, assault weapons are defined by having two "military rifle" features such as folding stock, muzzle flash suppressor or bayonet mount. The proposal reduces that to one feature and includes the popular pistol grip.

Private sales of assault weapons to someone other than an immediate family will be subject to a background check through a dealer. New Yorkers also would be barred from buying assault weapons over the Internet, and failing to safely store a weapon could lead to a misdemeanor charge.

Ammunition magazines will be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10, and current owners of higher-capacity magazines will have a year to sell them out of state. An owner caught at home with eight or more bullets in a magazine will face a misdemeanor charge.

Quite the contrary. I wish they'd never been invented, and I can certainly live and operate without them.

One opinion is just that; an opinion. The opposite opinion is not actually an opinion. It is a fact, supported by one of the most important of our founding documents for more than two centuries. So far as that "opinion" is concerned, we should all give a shit.

Cheers,

Kennith

I'm glad that they were invented. They equalize the playing field. A 100lb woman with a pistol is not automatically doomed to be crushed by a 225lb man if he attempts to assault her.

Never forget. Citizens that don't understand guns are scared of guns. It's the nature of the beast. Citizens that are scared of guns want to put in place wildly obtrusive and unnecessary gun control laws because they know no better. And they're scared.

Good point; agree with you on that.

P.S. pinkytoe you sound like a 12 year old. As others have said, learn weapon safety. Guns are tools that have a purpose - to maim, kill, etc. however, it depends on the person behind the gun as to what purpose it is used for (good vs. evil type shit). Cars are as dangerous, so are airplanes, boats, etc. bottom line is that if you get into a car with a bad unskilled driver, your chance for being hurt is much higher than if you were driven by a trained professional. Same thing applies to firearms; if you are surrounded by armed individuals who know what end of the gun is the business end, practice the safety rules religiously, etc. then you shouldnt expect to get shot in the face. If you follow your logic, it would almost make sense that by hanging out with a bunch of guys puts you at a higher risk of getting butt raped. :banghead:

I understand your point but sense you might not truly believe your own statement. Think about the pleasure that 110lb woman would get from a taser, then repeatedly shocking them every time that man tried to get up. It would be priceless and you'd get to see him in cuffs and eventually the pen. Bittersweet.

Thanks, that was the best wording I could think of at the time. Your boy with the pipe felt differently I believe. :D .

Obama is going to decree the assault weapons ban back into existence tomorrow. He will certainly include some additions to as well. Doing so will be illegal, but he and his supporters won't care.

What do you guys think about this, and what about the people who just a few days ago were calling people like me paranoid?
