What happened in the course of 1 weekends worth of wheeling experience that caused the TJM to "suck" and make him want something else?

Several things:

Can't see the winch spool easily while winching to ensure it doesn't bunch up.
Can't easily stick gloved hand through little hole in bumper to engage/disengage clutch
Bumper shifts on adjustable mounts, even when the bolts are cranked on to the point of nearly stripping them.
Approach angle isn't very good- stuffing the fairlead constantly in muck.

I am doing the "I told ya so" dance... hehehe... He's getting a Bearmach bumper as soon as the pre-03 version arrives. He runs an older grille so the 03/04 version won't fit.

Running synthetic line helps with the spooling issue and also with getting the roller fairlead out of the dirt, the hawse sticks out less actually it doesn't stick out at all. Mine has never shifted. I guess rolling around in the VA clay has different needs, a buried truck like most of the pics would be easier to winch with a top mounted design. Maybe its just me but that don't look fun to do or to clean out of every crack and crevice of your underside, grease points elec. connectors etc. I'll come down to MAR next year but probably ride along for the party and to help out on the trail.

Not that I'm aware of- did anyone see that tool in the friggin Chinese Ebay land rover racing shirt? Friggin tacky... He deserved it.

I *almost* tossed out one of the Rovers North crew for doing donuts in the vendor area though- what a dork.

IF Your truck leaks oil then it should not be on the trail. Next year I beleive there should be a ROAV team at the gate inspecting underneath each and every Rover with white gloves to see if the truck leaks oil. IF IT DOES...No trail rides. IF IT DOES NOT...Then the owner should be allowed to pull the truck off the trailer -RETURN THE TRAILER TO THE VISITOR LOT AND THEN REPLENISH AND FILL THE MOTOR, SWIVELS, DIFFS, TFER CASE AND TRANS TO ALL SPECS/check all fluid levels and drive it freely on the trails.

White glove check on my truck. Hmmm-I guess Will is joking....if not I guess I'll be reading about MAR next year. Both my 30 year old LR and my 2 year old LR leak.

i believe the 25 lb bag of Chex Mix ripped the steering wheel out of my hands and drove me over the damn bridge. ask Kirk. he was there......i bet that bastard was sweet talking the Chex Mix and forced it to do such actions.
next thing i knew my Optima was swelling up like a puffer fish.

"good lord son.....have you ever seen a bag of Chex Mix do such a thing?"

"no sir, but i believe the man was Dutch!"

"ahhh.....yes.....i see."
