First I'll Start out with my set up, D1 with RTE D2 style shock towers and RTE 2" lift with Terra Firma D2 +2 shocks.

So the first day I had used the Terra Firma shocks wheeling all went well I was very happy with the function and the feel of these shocks.

About a week later I noticed my front shocks were a little soft in the corners and made a little noise. I thought it might be a lose retaining bolt on the springs.

Yesterday I went wheeling and as soon as I got into the soft sand and the rutts my D1s front axel was hitting the bunmp stops hard! WTF!!!!!!

Today I pulled the drivers side out to examine. I have little to no compression and the rebound seems fine.

What gives? What could I have done wrong with the install?
does Terra Firma have a warranty? I've used cheaper shocks before in the past that lasted a little more than a year.

who'd ya get them from? Is it both fronts?

Buy a set of 7100's and never worry about shocks again. They 100% rebuildable...

The shock is probably full of pine barrens sand.

All kidding aside... You should have bought then from Justin. I heard his terrafima shocks are better than rovers norths

Wow... is it a stock or TF arm bent sideways?
I can't imagine WTF happened to it.

Terrafirma arm bent sideways. I beam construction doesnt seem to be working out so hot on radius arms... I suspected the pair I had were slightly bent when I couldnt get them on my damn truck.

I beam may have worked, but there is an unecessary reduction in the cross section in the x-y plane of the arms that you can see in the above picture. It is right at the center of the bend. This reduction isn't for clearance on the vehicle so the only reason I can think of is some manufacturing limitation. It caused the arms to fail on my vehicle in that way. I don't know where the bend started, but it got to that point on an average difficulty trail out at Barnwell Mountain.

Nothing wrong with using I-beam on the radius arms - all they have to do is to resist bending and have high buckling limit. For the arm to be bent so badly, Panhard rod must have been pretzeled.

Thanks for education. I was leaning towards getting TF arms - but replacing the bushing(s) seemed to have one hell of an effect on the truck's road manners, so "discretionary spending" was reallocated.

That said... I put about 5K miles on the TF shocks, front and rear, and like them a lot. The Bilsteins lasted for 220kmi before going to the trash bin, though - that would be a number to match for TF.

panhard is fine, though it has a spherical rod end at the frame side in place of the factory bushing.

The other thing I noticed about the radius arms I had was it wasnt a true I-beam the top was not flat and rigid it was more the shape of a Y which would be more susceptible to bending especially in the reduced portions

That's a joke right? If not you're an idiot. They're the same products.

Called Rovers North this morning, They are going to take the TF shocks back and refund my account. Very Cool.

I'm using the 3" extended bump stops, I cant remember the brand but I've used them for some time now with no problems. When I did my measurments I made sure to leave about 1.5" on top and bottom to keep them from limiting out or bottoming out. and yes I do have limit straps.

What Shock to go with now? I need loop to loop.
