if youre going all the way to bias treps, make the step the red labels... much better tire.. at least from what i've seen on the trails.

thats what i would get. but whoever makes tires of interco now does a way better job than continental did. i have about 5000 miles on the my latest set and still have half the tread left.

stickies or red label tires i would never drive on the street at least not over 45mph, whereas the new bias tsl's seem to last a lot longer and actually wear even.

maxxis makes the trep bias in 2 compounds. Reg and sticky competition. Bfg reds only shine on rocks...prob best suited out west. The comp treps have twice the sidewall of
The red.

I've heard bad things about trep radials but the buggy guys I wheel with all rock 40" trep stickies and they are as mean as it gets

I just bought a set of 255-85-16 Maxxis bighorns.

Dumb ass name but they seem to have great reviews and I recall when I lived in New Zealand they were very common and very popular.

I have them in 315/75-16 and like them so far especially for the money. They flex pretty good and seem to grip pretty well on the rocks. They are smooth on the road but are pretty loud. Which does not bother me since the truck is a trailer queen and it covers up all the drive line noise.

i'd run a maxxis bias over an interco bias any day, even on the street. they are a bit less square, and just better made overall compared to the interco from what i've seen.

the reds are better on the right coast too... when it gets slick/muddy, the maxxis tires just stop working unless you have 800hp to spin the tires fast enough to dry them and the surface they are running on, even the comps. the reds dont care if its muddy or not.

Thanks, I wont hear a little tire noise over the TDI when she is peak boosting 32 PSI. :)

I have a feeling that nothing really upsets Kenneth.

Even noisy tires probably just get him mildly perturbed.

.

Keep spelling his name wrong and you may find out.

It'll be really early one morning, maybe 2 am. Being thirsty, you'll head to the kitchen. While walking past the bay windows something will catch the corner of your eye. You'll turn on the porch lights to see a man literally standing on your pool water, wearing a ninja suit, very stylish fedora, and Hermes scarf around his nose and mouth. Slowly he'll sheath his hayabusa and whisper "sizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzler" which will be the last thing you ever remember before waking up at an animal hospital.

As I recently grabbed a nice set of steel wheels, some 18s, and a set of tires to putter around on for a while, I've made my decision.

I just ordered the Generals again. That's what I wanted to begin with, and that's what I'm getting. I'll wrap them around those 16" steel wheels, and then keep the Hurricanes for some road tires with a bit of ice traction later.

These Goodyears aren't for me. I just don't understand the sacrifice they've made in carcass construction, unless all they were after was better rock wrapping. If that's your poison, so be it; these are probably the greatest tires ever made.

Of course, I've seen a number of what I consider to be "properly made" tires handle rock hopping without any issue, so I don't see the fucking point of these things.

Cheers,

Kennith
