Sounds like this chump just has a little of the standard Toyota owner jealousy. Nothing new. Nothing surprising.
The unintentional irony in that sentence speaks volumes.
I used to own a 95 Disco, back in 98-2000. Loved it, but mechanical and electrical issues (all under 30K miles) led me to sell it. Not complaining, just stating fact.
I still work on Rovers from time to time, have friends and a sister who own them, and still love them just as much now as I ever did. Read: alot.
But, that said, since the Disco left, I've owned nothing but Cruisers and couldn't be happier. First an 83 FJ60, and now a 95 FZJ80 that I bought in 2000 and haven't had a single issue with other than starter contacts. Not bragging, just stating fact.
So what am I doing on Discoweb? My love of four wheel drive vehicles and their inherent beauty of engineering makes reading otherwise inconsequential-in-life posts about watts linkages, axle issues, diesel swaps, roof racks, etc. interesting to me. As I said, I still love Rovers, so I still love reading about them.
Most of my free four-wheel forum time is spent over on ih8mud.com, probably the largest site devoted to Cruisers. And the original poster of this thread, hks3sgte, was looked upon with pretty much the same troll-like disdain over there when he added to a similar thread as he was here.
Truth is, anyone who
really loves fourwheeling easily dispenses with the brand-warefare mentality, leaving it to the webwheelers and elitists. Cruisers and Rovers are each unique vehicles, which puts us in a class a little seperate than someone who runs out and buys the first Jeep they see without an ounce of research other than "I think they look cool." Cruiser owners wishing that Rover owners would see the light and "admit" that Cruisers are better, or Rover owners wishing the same from Cruiser owners, are really no different than the guy who sees no problem in driving a vehicle you'll see across from you at every stoplight.
Embrace the differences, man.
