Again, thanks for the advice, guys. Kennith and PM. I get what you're selling, but I came here not to learn all the reasons why it shouldn't/can't be done. I want to see how it has been done. I appreciate your advice, but it's falling on deaf ears.
Hans, you've been told where to look for it from the beginning, in the second post in this thread. Not why it shouldn't or can't be done.
But you're too busy to search by yourself.

Give me some time. I'll start poking around for the "definitive thread" on how to swap in an SR20DET to build the ultimate Disco Drifter. :ack:

You don't want that rice burner. If you want to be cool figure out how to drop in one of the new Ford 3.5L EcoBoosts. Those things are ridiculous right out of the box and if you tune them things really get stupid.

No, things got stupid when someone suggested putting something other than an RV8 into a DI. Key point here is DI.

It's not as though there are nearly as many DIs with dead engines as there are DIIs./

What's wrong with V6's? I'd take the V6 in my truck over a stock V8 any day of the week.

A owning a powerful V6 is like fucking a college girl. Rarely does the excitement live up to the expectation.

Every time a new V6 is released, people jump all over it and tell me it's different; it's not like all the others. It has a real power band, it's smooth, it is a wonderful step up from a four cylinder of any variety, and a great substitute for a V8.

Of course, eventually I drive a car so equipped, and yet again I'm disappointed.

Ford has the right idea with the new Mustang. The V6 is right where it belongs: At the bottom of the barrel, below both the V8 and the four cylinder.

In my experience, there have been two good V6 engines: One was fitted to the Buick Grand National. Shockingly enough, it's closely related to the RV8. Imagine that...

The other good V6 found it's way into the Jaguar XJ220. Now, I've only put a feet on a 220; no miles, but after a fast ride and extensive conversation with a man who found himself happy with a very expensive V6-equipped vehicle after expecting a V12:eek:, I feel I've got it on fairly good authority that, at the very least, it doesn't suck.

Damn. I sure want one of those, but you've got to pay to play. Maybe one day I'll earn it.:patriot:

I agree on the v6.... But they are rugged and 220hp easy

I'm in Ireland - wood is packed but I ran out of time to ship before I left - sorry!

Told you I need prodding. Ha

Doug

I kept forgetting to prod. We've got the same problem.

I've never been to Ireland. Bring me back a souvenir. :D

LS camaro headers.
Use the oil pan too.
L33 weighs ~ rover v8.
LM7 weighs ~ 300TDI
flash the PCM for a 5 speed.
Find a hydraulic shop willing to make hoses.
btw: LS a/c compressor relocation kits are out there, and they do use a ND compressor similar to rover ones.
Stock radiator will be inadequate, go with an aluminum aftermarket. follow what I did, or use a cheapy ass ebay alu.

Blow the auto? Grab 4hp24 parts from a p38, or later jag and reubild it to suit.
NV4500? Kits are out now to adapt it. the NV is a mile long.
R380? Use the marks 4wd auto adatper, GM stock flywheel/ pressure plate on the rover disc. IIRC you'll need to change the R380 throw out bearing spacing.

Automatic D1/rrc trucks have the most engine swap capability fwiw. Volvo, bmw, jag.
Hell. you could plug and play a 4.0 supercharged XJR engine into a rover bay.
But be warned, its a long one.

If you're talking about the AJ16, that's a swap I'd actually find interesting. It's a hell of an engine, even without forced induction. Nobody can complain about reliability, either. Those fuckers will burn nails and bleach with sand in the oil for half a million miles.

That said, like others, it's heavy. Whats a few hundred more pounds with all that added power, though, right?

It will move the vehicle, but you've already got a winch and roller, a heavy bumper, lights, two batteries (sometimes), and sometimes a Hi-Lift (depending upon the owner) hanging out in front of the axle. That can be as much as 350 pounds, depending upon your batteries.

That's like driving around with a fat man stapled to your grille; and now you mean to glue a few midgets to his back by swapping engines...

It makes a difference.

The XJR packed the six for many years.

That doesn't matter, though. I want to imagine an AJ16 in a Land Rover. Don't spoil it for me.

Cheers,

Kennith
Fair enough. I've had a few radical power plant swaps thought up for my Rover. One of them was an AJV8. I didn't really consider putting a Jag I6 in there with so many other "options" available.
