Well, I never got any email alerts that there responses to the threads. I didn't realize this until just this weekend that my profile settings were whacked. So now all of a sudden I'm getting these email alerts, and when I saw this one, I felt I could respond without getting into the maelstrom of the previous discussions.

ON the Subaru, we removed the doors, hood, tailgate, and I think the front fenders too. Basically, there was not much sheet metal left on the car.

I would argue that this is quite a bit different than your original statement implied.

LOL, just gotta be contrary eh Aaron?

Okay, how's this:
...My buddy and I took off most of the body panels, he fabbed up a roll cage, scrounged a racing....

I think the difference is pretty minor, but I can understand the confusion. BTW, nice avatar - Cleghorn?

JSQ do you have this attitude in other areas of your life... If you do, try not acting like such a peice of garbage. Maybe youll get a raise at work. Than with your wife's approval you to can get a LR3.

You know you want one. Thats why you cruise the LR3 area.

A little late to the party?

You crack the code yet on that tough "mystery chime" tech you were posting about?

Still in a pickle with that one toughguy?

for a moment i was thinking discussions like these had a Steve Young tone to them, but after reading everything it seems as some of the LR3 kids have about 1% of the experience or knowledge of Steve.
maybe they have a selection on their vehicles labeled as "blind faith" that we don't know about yet.
it's sad in a way because the people that lose out in these theads are the overly defensive road warriors. snug as a bug in their LR3 womb.

Looks like my G4 may be finally sold in the next day or two. I'll be picking up a new LR3, complete with the Partial Poverty Pack of Castration, which consists of a V6 and no rear locker.

Since the office of Mayor is already taken, I officially submit my name for Sheriff of Poser City. Remember, your votes will be rewarded. My qualifications are already stellar, having owned a well-equipped 04 that rarely went off road.

You guys better watch your step. I'll buy that giant LR3 raised air intake and beat you all silly with it.

There is a huge difference between removing a few bolt on body panels and cutting up a unibody.

100% Agreed, but you need to look at it through my eyes. I'm a poseur and am only concerned with looks :) So for all intents and purposes, a car without any body panels looks like a car without a body.

LR3 owner, you need to understand the unwritten rules in this forum. 1st you drive an LR3, therefore you are a 2nd class citizen and a "poseur". 2nd JSQ is the head of the Disco II Nazi Death Squad. He is a very well respected Disco II owner with volumes of knowledge. Probably the greatest resource at Discoweb.org. In conclusion, JSQ should be held in the highest esteem by you. Accept your place "LR3 Owner" or JSQ will deal with you.

Know this, I am an LR3 owner (and Disco II owner), and I have been whipped and beaten by JSQ and I now know my place here on the Discoweb.org! I am very proud poseur. :patriot:

just driving an LR3 doesnt make anybody a 2nd class citizen or a poseur. Actually there are some pretty well respected LR3 owners on here. Not knowing what your talking about makes you a 2nd class citizen. case in point being that just about the only rover JSQ does NOT own is a DII.. its stupity that makes a 2nd class citizen, not your choice of vehicle.

I keep seeing people called "poseurs" on this forum. Could someone please define "poseur"? It seems some would call anyone owning an LR3 a poseur. When the DII came out, the DI owners called the DII owners poseurs. So, is this just a term thrown out for anybody who owns the new edition of a land rover vehicle?

a poseur is someone that habitually claims or appears to be something they are not. a poseur can be just about anyone from D90 to LR3 owners. LR3 owners will get lumped in there more often than none because they purchase their vehicles other than reasons that gain any merit on this site.
the heritage of LR is dead in the new vehicles on this side of the pond. purchasing a vehicle simply for the fact that it is a Land Rover and that you automatically gain some sense brotherhood is also gone. LR3's are catering to a new breed of LR owners that might not fit into the same mold as past generations of vehicles. just seems to be a mentality with a few people here that think they have "arrived" and inheritly have passed through some right of passage by simply purchasing one.

:bs: Gil you should be honest. If you and JSQ saw anybody in an LR3 on the trails, your immediately going to have the overwhelming prejudice feeling crawl up your spine.

I did not know the LR3 was a 4wd with low range. I only figured it out after I went to a Land Rover Wheels event. I used to take my wifes Lexus to the Sierras and have to put snow chains on it, but after talking to the lead instructor at the Land Rover Driving School he informed that since my LR3 is a 4wd drive I would not have to put chains on, so his advice was to leave the Lexus at home. Glad I went to the Land Rover event.

Proudly,
The Discoweb's #1 LR3 Stupid Poseur

for starters mr. poseur, jsq and myself have never shared the same trail. ive never met the guy. secondly, thats not correct.. ive been off road with LR3s, and fortunately they were piloted by people who knew their vehciles limitations.

i would say its good that you went to that event, i would also suggest perusing your owners manual and getting to know your 4x4. but my real question is who the f*ck sold you the thing without explaining the low range? thats scary..

Gil...I was kidding...sarcasm! Also in your regards to your first paragraph it's called prejudice. If you meet two cars on the trail, one is an LR3 and the other a modified DI, your very first instinct is one of prejudice toward the LR3 driver. I am not talking about after you get to know the driver.
